Not true. I bought a packet of crisps and some cheese triangles today. Plus a brand new GBA last week. And some socks, at some point. See!

This sounds a fantastic book m8 - will pre-order :D

Please change the cover m8 - that will not sell this book, it's hideous.

No come on, really. If I saw that peeking out from the shelves of a book store, I'd buy it like a shot. Perhaps you should offer that cover as a limited edition wraparound extra for us "true believers", then.... tsk

I think it's pretty likely that the cover will be changed - to be honest, I'm not even 100% certain about it myself (and I designed it)!

We've been toying with a number of different cover ideas for a while now. I decided to cobble the Elite one together a couple of months ago, as we needed a cover image for the website fairly quickly and that one was the easiest to create in a short space of time. But now that the writing is almost complete, we should be able to spend a bit more time working on a more suitable cover image (and maybe even come up with some new ideas)...

For those who really liked the Elite cover: first of all, thanks for supporting my admittedly elementary graphic designing skills; and secondly, don't be too downhearted, as there's a good chance it'll still sneak into the book somehow!

Not that I dislike the Elite cover (though I agree the text is a bit shonky), I'd like to see something more thematically tied to the other books in the range. Tape deck and joystick perhaps? Or a composite computer image, made up from several bits of 8 bits system (some keys from one, some of the others from another, a case from another etc to give us a generic 8-bit fantasy machine?)

Can't wait for this excellent bible...

Cover is ok by me, but as has been said before it could even have a picture of Tardis out of Cylon Attack on it over and over and I'd not bat an eyelid... :)

Look forward to it...

Well, we still need a bunch more pre-orders!!!

Incidentally, we're toying with the idea of throwing the cover design out there as a competition.

Prize will be a credit, plus a free copy of The Spectrum Book (sold out - one from my private stash!), The Commodore Book, and The 8-bit Book.

Any takers? (If so, we'll formalise this idea... No guarantees the winner will get used if Jerry or I come up with a design we like better, but he or she will still get the prize!)

The book is looking good... though no Jelly Monsters or Omega Race for the Vic-20 in there? ;)

Love Jelly Monsters!

And maybe there's room to squeeze an Acorn Atom game in as well? ;)

Wicked, I'll go pre-order this today - loved the other two books :)

As for the comments about the cover... I don't think it's *bad*, but given that the other two books used a keyboard theme, why not make a composite keyboard using keys from all of the machines that feature in this book? You know, throw in some VIC keys, TI, some ZX-81...?

Follows the same theme but instantly apparent it's covering more than one machine...

Just an idea - can't wait for the book regardless of the cover tho - it's the meat I'm after ;)

O-Jax
WTF!? The 80's are GONE!? And they're never coming BACK!?
