SNES Mortal Kombat.

Now i'm older and wiser i can see that ALL versions of Mortal Kombat sucked, including the arcade original. But seriously... No Blood? What was the point? Thanks Nintendo for making a crap game even crapper!

The retro-esque Nights remake for Wii. I cant really blame the reviews as I was as taken with idea of wii-ing on this Saturn classic as everyone else - but by the gods it was grim. The controls are so lame that I though I'd picked up my Sky remote instead of my wii-mote.

I suppose at this point it's expected that I'll mention the SNES version of Captain America and the Avengers, so I just have. Pulling out your own teeth with pliers would probably be a less painful experience.

Here are a few of my bad choice purchases that stick in the mind:

Count Duckula (CPC)
Gazza's Superstar Soccer (CPC)
Out Run (CPC)
Captain Planet (Amiga)
Lawnmower Man (SNES)
Two Crude Dudes (Megadrive)
Batman: Return of the Joker (N64)
London Racer (PS1)
Sensible Soccer (PS1)

...and there were many more.

Trouble is why do I still own most of them???

Have mentioned it before, but Nemesis (Gradius) on the Spectrum was appalling- an eternal hex on Sinclair User for giving mocked up screens a 5 star review. Worst game I've ever purchased, bar none (other than Legend of Kage, perhaps, also on the spectrum).

Always hated Robocod on the Amiga- Initially impressive, but it doesnt take long for its naff design to become apparent. I'm sure it has its fans, but if ever there was a Happy Shopper version of Mario, then this slick but soulless toss-wipe is it.

A big f**k you goes out to Halo 2 on the X-Box too. :x

Anything on the Atari 65XE (except for Joe Blade ) all utter rubbish and took ages to load.

Renegade 3 on the speccy. Worst sequel of all time.

Street Fighter 2 on the speccy. Unplayable even if you could get past the horrible loading system.

Mechwarrior 2 on the PS1. Clunky, but not in a giant mechy kind of way. Rather less fluid and playable than Driller on the speccy.

Wartech Senko no Ronde on the 360. Horrible game. Awful controls, messy graphics and no fun at all.

PES 05 on the PS2. When PES went rubbish.

The Gameboy conversion was much worser.

Aztec Adventure on the Sega Master System

Awful drearly little game:

1. The game was really repetative with only cosmetic changes to the levels as you progessed through the game

2. Frustratingly difficult

3. A really bad choice of colour palette

4. The main character was really unresponsive

5. Just fu&^ing bland ok!

I read the bad reviews but bought it anyway because it was cheap, I also dislike Fantasy Zone on MS with a passion it's so boring.

Hell yeah! I had that on CPC, and promptly recorded over it with a different game (that I borrowed from a mate)

New worst game ever

Post by MegaRichards » Fri Aug 15, 2008 3:36 pm

Spirit of the Stones C64 - I'm pretty laid back but I honestly hate this game with a passion.

http://www.retrogamer.net/show_image.ph ... 089&page=1

I have almost achieved closure on the hatred since adding Spirit of the Stones to the games archive. Adding it has been a very welcome relief from a painful burden I have been carrying for too long. I just hope it gets the zero rating it truly deserves.

Despite wanting to obliterate it from the universe I would still like to hear the story behind the mess. Ian Gray and Lee Braine who did the coding actually made a few other half decent games for the C64. I sometimes wonder what the hell they were thinking about.

Ian or Lee if you are reading this please tell me you did it for the money and that you were desperate. It is the only way I can ever forgive you.

Sacrilege! One of the best games on the Master System for me.

My vote:

Auf Wiedersehen Pet - BBC/Electron (Tynesoft)

Stupid, unresponsive, random... just appalling. Looks like a bad magazine type-in, but it was actually released as a full-price title.

Alex Kidd in High-Tech World was one of the most unpleasant game experiences of my life.

NES Ring King is pretty awful, too.
The RAU Gallery - It's something...I guess...About 90% sure, anyway.
