Dreamcast Recomendations??

Post by oldskool81 » Sat Jul 26, 2008 7:34 pm

I just recently decided to buy a new DC, this is the second time I've had one and last time around I bought all the obvious games (Shenmue, Sonic Adventure etc.), all amazing games but I've played them to death and would like to experiance something a bit different!!

First game I've picked up is Rez and I must say its one of the most amazing things i've ever seen, espicially the boss on the 4th level, blew me away!!

So any suggestions of some hidden gems??

I suspect the appearence of the super excellent HD 360 version for £5.50 has dented the 2nd hand value of both DC and PS2 Rezs.

Everyone will recommend the likes of the Crazy Taxis and Soul Caliburs the moment you mention Dreamcast, but I will go for the more unusual titles...

Cosmic Smash
Rent A Hero
MDK 2
Noiz2a, a freeware game which can be downloaded on DC homebrew sites.
Fur Fighters

Toy Commander (some people love it!)
Daytona 2001
Tokyo Bus Guide
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2
Rayman 2
Capcom vs SNK
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
F355 Challenge
Gunbird 2

I'm a big fan of DC Rez, but I'm rubbish at it - I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but even if I lurk on levels to collect power-ups, most of them get wiped by the bosses. I think I completed level three but I don't know which vmu the save is on...

I forgot to post a recommendation - I was really taken with Unreal Tournament, and Quake III Arena - both solid conversions IMO

I struggled at first but I found that just constantly blasting enimies rather than using the lock on and moving as fast as possible is the way to go.

I've got to the final boss a few times so far but keep getting wasted, keep plugging away though!! :D

My first online experience was Quake III on Dreamcast on the 33lk modem, worked OK four player.
I must recommend Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver if you've got a few hours spare. I know it was available on other formats but it's terrific on DC.
