Re: The Book of the Game of the Film: at the printers now, hard copy proof due any day!

Fear not Antiriad2097, they're all hardcovers with dust jackets! I've had exactly 250 copies made, and if they all sell out within the next couple of months then I may consider a second printing in the summer, but they'd definitely be paperbacks, so the 250 hardcovers from this first print run (one of which is heading your way!) will forever remain a limited edition of just 250. :)

Looking good. Any idea of an ETA for getting that lot shipped? No pressure, I understand it's a bit of an onerous task, just curious as I'm keen to get reading. For some reason this one has me more excited than many of the books I've bought.

No worries! I think yours was dispatched yesterday (managed to get the first 50-ish packed and out the door before running out of puff!) and the rest of the UK-bound books were sent today. There are about a dozen left to post out now, all of which are heading overseas, and they'll be on their way tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to seeing a few reviews (and maybe an unboxing or two!) ;)

Happy to report that sales of the new book are ticking along nicely! Only around 130 copies left now, and with an interview feature set to appear in Retro Gamer this week, hopefully a few more will find themselves being snapped up over the coming days. I'm definitely going to keep the original hardcover print run at 250, so everyone who invests in a copy can rest assured their edition will remain an extremely limited one. Forever. But I might have a crack at crowd-funding a paperback reprint in the summer.

Here's an enthusiastic unboxing video:

... and here's a nice review of The Book of the Game of the Film from a couple of days ago:

Reception has been really good so far, although I'd like to see a few more actual reviews out there!

Got my copy of it last week, I'm really enjoying it. It's not something I'm going to sit down and read in one sitting, and there are some bits where I'd have like more individual detail about games that are grouped together (though I appreciate that would have required more work, pages and ended up with a book thick enough to use as a coffee table rather than being a coffee table book) but it's full of little facts and information that make you go 'oh!' and tell you things you didn't know. I was reading up about Hero Quest this lunchtime, and Run The Gauntlet yesterday and it's a lot of fun. Really great work.

Glad you’re enjoying it! :)

In case anyone hasn’t seen it yet, there’s a full-page interview in this month’s Retro Gamer...

... and sharing a double-page spread with a Mr. Biffo piece and a giant screen shot from Deus Ex Machina has to be the icing on the cake!

Enjoying it so far...

...but there is an absolute howler of a mistake in the Star Trek review on page 9.
"A Klingon saviour in the shape of Ricardo Montalban's Khan Noonien Singh".

Khan was a genetically-engineered superhuman, not a Klingon, first seen in the Original Series episode "Space Seed". Revived with his fellow criminals from the S.S. Botany Bay, Khan was exiled to a remote planet.

Oh dear.

Congrats Andrew, you're the first to spot it! Obviously I described Khan as a Klingon on purpose, to make sure readers were concentrating. Just like I did in The 8-Bit Book - 1981 to 199x when I accidentally-on-purpose wrote that Jean-Michel Jarre composed the music for Blade Runner...

The Golem Books Twitter account is up and running at last - feel free to follow and re-tweet things (any tips are also welcome - I'm a total novice when it comes to Twitter!): https://twitter.com/Golem_Books

Hehe, being both a Trekker and a retro gaming nerd it was pretty obvious to me.
Finally had time over the weekend to read the rest - very good! I enjoyed a lot of the film trivia and a few of the puns. Well presented, full of great games and a good read all round.
