eBay: Official Dreamcast Magazine Dummy RARE

Post by Mallo » Thu Sep 11, 2014 11:25 pm

I just put my own personal copy of the Official Dreamcast Magazine dummy on eBay - if there are any Dreamcast completists out there looking for one... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Official-Drea ... 1437200613

It has to rate as one of the most impressive dummy issues ever produced for a printed magazine, with a matt UV gate-fold cover, fifth colour inks throughout, super high-quality paper and printing, and a rock-solid perfect bound spine.

I recently discussed this dummy with the magazine's then Editor Mark Higham, who confirmed to me that no more than 100 copies were ever produced, and most of those went to Sega. So this is rare.

Just noticed there are a number of articles inside the magazine written by Charlie Brooker, including this review of Sonic Adventure.

Issue zero is rare?

Cool, both me and my brother own a copy. I'll have to hunt it out.

Not the printed and distributed promotional issue zero, but the dummy issue zero that was presented to Sega BEFORE Dennis Publishing got the license. There is a difference.

You and your brother will not have one of these unless you either worked on the magazine itself, or bought one from someone who was involved :-)

It sold for £38, if anyone's interested.

Considering that each copy cost Dennis Publishing £80 to produce, that is a bit of a bargain :-)
