Stuck with it to end of stage 3.Yes, very nicely done in audio/Visual terms, but as i feared, feels like a mish mash of standard platform fare.Nothing has really stood out or grabbed me as being special, everything feels like it`s been 'lifted' from somewhere else. Also, the foes you face:Very mixed bag, some superb and seem to have great deal of thought put into, whilst others? Just seem cliched and bloody annoying. Snes/MD/Arcade offer me far better examples of what`s on offer here.

While I love the music (and who doesn't?), I think it's aged really badly, especially in comparison the the newer games in the franchise. It feels so clunky now, and while it provides a modicum of awesomeness (mainly of the rose-tinted variety), I just don't feel it plays that well.

It's a bit too hardcore for me, that's why I can't get along with it.
At best I am an averagely skilled games player, and Super Castlevania needs you to be at least 'good' to get anywhere into it.

Too easy! The whole eight-direction whipping thing makes everything too easy, and those boring mode 7 bits just go on forever and ever and ever. I like the disembodied horse heads though.

I've always found SC IV to be disappointingly slow and boring. It's not that I mind the linear gameplay - I don't demand 'Metroidvania' style exploring and exploration - the game just doesn't get the adrenaline pumping.
My favourite Castlevania is probably New Generation/Bloodlines. A controversial choice and a less polished game but very action packed and fast paced - and two characters to play with.

Never really felt compelled to play it at the time after being brutalised by Castlevania on the NES.
