My initial impression at the time would have been 'wow' followed by 'arrrrggghhhh my god these last levels are complete and utter bas*ards'.

Multi-directional whip, 5 lives and MUCH improved controls make this feel a lot more accessable than the previous games, and help cut out a lot of the 'unfair deaths', meaning it starts off very easy, but the difficulty soon picks up by about level 4ish!

On the downside the Linearity feels like a step back after Draculas Curse, and the Slow-down is terrible in places.
