Its awful. Just awful. I loathe the whole rainbow thing, its just so naff. Always hated it, always will.

Id rather wax John Prescotts arse crack than play that game.

It's very, very twee... and far too cutesy for its own good.
The main character looks rather fruity, and there's always eternal regret he's not a dinosaur.

I'll stick to Bubble Bobble thanks... there may be good gameplay in there somewhere, but its well hidden.

Whats there to like about Rainbow Islands..

Nothing, thats what.. over hyped in the press as being brilliant and then you play it and realise that it isnt. it really, really isnt.

Its got cute graphics and stuff and its dead hard.... So?

Bring on MD New Zealand Story for a better, cuter and harder game

It's cutie-poo for the sake of it and the game just never really flowed properly in my opinion. It will always be the poor relation of Bubble Bobble.

Found it vastly over-rated, far too frustrating, Boss stuff espically. The hurry up-Rising water? Not a patch on having Baron Von Blubba on yer case.Music got on me tits after a while.just could never get into it, despite trying various versions of it.Still damn sight better than the abomination that IS:Rainbow Islands:Evolution. (ST/Amiga versions seemed unfair as far as difficulty went as well....Grumble)

They had it in our local Arcade and there was always Girls or some Muscle Man wearing a mickey Mouse T Shirt playing it.. The Rainbow was useless unless you had 3 of them, way to hard and stupid looking bosses "A Spider wearing Shoes" and a Plane with a face" easy to beat.. Parasol Stars was what this should have been

It was cute and it was fun, for about 10 minutes to me. There wasn't much to keep me coming back though. Missus far prefers the Bust-a-move games for Bub & Bob related fun.

Brilliant game in it's day so I guess it is for me. However it has dated really badly I feel. Definately a product of it's time.

i never liked this game! i always loved playing bubble bobble in the arcades when i was a kid, a friend told me he had bubble bobble 2 at home, so i walked all the way to his house with him (6 miles) to be presented with rainbow islands (can't remember which system) we had quite a fight over it, and i never spoke to him again!
