Re: Best classic Sega franchise?
quite frankly im getting tired of sonic
the 3d games with exception of sonic adventure are arse
sonic heroes being some of the worst
while im also getting tired of the orginal 4 games because they are getting re released almost indefinantly
there has been a compilation on the megadrive
sonic jam on the saturn
sonic mega collection
sonic mega collection plus
sega mega drive collection
ultimate mega drive collection
and now the four games are back again on the DS
they also are featured in pretty much every repackaging of the mega drive hard ware ( those plug in to the tv controllers and that blaze megadrive thing )
i am utterly sick of sonic
of that lot i wil probably say streets of rage even if i dont think much of the music

The fact that it said best classic franchise is why I pick Sonic. After the Dreamcast, Sonic started swirling down the 3D toilet.

Re: Best classic Sega franchise?
For me this one was a tossup between the Sonic and Streets of Rage series (although Shinobi 3 on the Megadrive was amazing as well). I went for Sonic in the end because for me the whole series of Sonic platformers on the Megadrive were excellent, whereas I felt Streets of Rage 3 was a pretty ho-hum brawler and definitely a step backwards from how utterly brilliant its predecessor was (and the first SOR hasn't aged too well at all in my opinion, looks very dated now).
I'm only referring to the 16-bit Sonic series here though by the way - I remember a few years back my nephew wanted me to play a more recent 3D Sonic with him on his Gamecube and I thought it was complete garbage.

When you think you've got problems you don't really need,
They're maybe not as bad as they seem,
Cos in a world full of misery, with hatred and greed,
Your problems are another man's dream.

Though I love the Sonic games and even Golden Axe, I'll go for OutRun. You cannot have more fun with a virtual Ferrari...

I voted the SOR series because I find the series still very playable to this day with SOR 1 being the only game to look dated. The music in SOR 2 is excellent!

Voted Sonic but my personal choice would probably be Daytona. Sega has always been about the mid-90s arcade games to me.

It's Hang On so much that it hurts. Especially the life-size back that you had to physically lean over on corners. Pratically all of the ports are great especially Super Hang On on the ST

Sonic. No, annoying, and as was previously stated, he's everywhere these days. Super Hang-On was superb - so much more to it than the arcade version, but i'm gonna have to say Streets of Rage. Don't think they've aged a day, amazing soundtrack and the third entry in the series was massively underrated.

Wish I could could actually program...

I voted Sonic, but OutRun is a very close second.

The original arcade version of outrun is awesome, but there's some stinkin ports. I'm not all that sold on it's follow ups either although turbo was kinda interesting
Re: Best classic Sega franchise?
SOR.. Any day. Although I did get early to get Sonic 2 on Sonic 2usday
. So for me it was a close call.
