I was wondering the same, Ralph. I was looking forward to taking part in one of these. Hope I haven't missed my chance. :(

Yeah, it has the potential to be a lot of fun - but six people complained about it, so it's only fair that it's scrapped, right?

Not so sure about the scrapping it due to 6 moaners! I would imagine not much has happened due to not many people getting involved. I keep meaning to - but forget!

Although every way I tried to play Beachhead was f**d (tape wouldnt load, and 2 differnt emu's kept looping so I couldnt play the actual game) I was looking forward to reading about it. It seems like months and months since the last time

i wasnt an LAP fan - but I was starting to give it a go.

maybe we should try a 'retro style' game one issue - something that people can access easily - like Braid.

Nice idea, but surely a computer and an emulator is easier to access than a 360/PS3, a download and an HD telly?

This, really. Despite all the people saying they liked the idea, very few actually like it enough to do anything to get involved, and it's generally the same folks that do, making it all feel quite-inclusive.

That said, I expect we'll be seeing it back soon, maybe with a bit of a revamp in the format.

I would have liked to get involved but the game choices (for me) seemed completely bizarre. Pick a game and a platform and stick with it, but do it months in advance so you can tell if your choice will work or not.

I'd have a crack at more common console games to get it running.

But that's completely missing the point - the idea is to pick something multi-platform to give a feel for what games were like for a range of users at the time. Just picking a single-platform immediately nixes a number of the topics of conversation.

I agree that some of the game choices are interesting, but they are voted for by the forum, so it's what we make it.

Anyway, I would be surprised if we don't see it again, given how keen Darran was for it in the first place - though I do expect the format may be tinkered with.

Streets of Rage 2 has been retrieved from the garage and is installed in my MD mk1, waiting patiently.
