I've played the Spectrum, C64 and the CPC versions. I'd say that the C64 is the best, albeit for largely cosmetic reasons as they've all got very similar gameplay. The CPC is, quite typically, let down a bit by some grotty scrolling during the tank stage and the Spectrum is a bit limited in the sound department.

I played the spectrum version to death but when i finally got my c64 i couldn't wait to load this up and i was rewarded with a game which had this extra layer of playability and much flashier graphics, and oh those sound effects, nice and authentic. So defo the c64 version.
I,m gonna live forever or die trying!

The main thing is, regardless of which version you played... it's bloody good game on all three machines.

You probably know already that I'm a big fan of the Atari 800XL, but because it's hardly ever mentioned i'm loathed to bring it up, just in case someone has a go at flaming it, pisses me right off.

Six (at least). There are Commodore 16 and MSX versions too.

A8 is fairly popular round here, isn't it?

Whereas the CPC is love/hate, the A8 is more love/ignore. Not sure which is worse...

Oh and the best versions in order are C64 first (just), A8 second and the others are too dire to think about...

Never tried the C16/MSX versions so unable to comment-Got me bloody Cheap MDF rubbish to try them now though. :D

Atari 8-Bits, do seem to be ignored by many, but cherished by those of us who spent many an hour on them (and still do).

 Would`nt worry about flaming.as soon as anyone says anything about...well anything on the internet, someone see`s it as a chance to start a flame war.

Thankfully, not a lot of that by comparison going on here though.

Commodore 64. Mainly because I played it to death on this machine.

I did try my friends Speccy version and aside from obvious graphical differences it played well.

Make that 7 - the BBC version was classic. Darn hard though.
Only 2 NES games to go - help out a sad collector and send me any of the following -

Street Gangs / Bartman Meets Radioactiveman

Really only played the Speccy version, which I thought was pretty good. Sodding hard, but pretty good.

youtube claims to have an unrelease PLaystation version - which looks sharp but lacks the pixellated charm of c64 version

The pen and papaer version that I tried to convince my mates playing at school.
Since it never went over the prototype stage, I'd pick the C64 version.

C64 version by a mile. The sound was spot on and very ominious and the graphics were crisp and lovely

There is also an Electron Beach head, brings the count to 8, I will have to dig it out and see what the differences are to the BBC B version, I played the spectrum one, and thought it was pretty good, until 15 years later when I finally got hold of the C64 one, no comparison at all, sound Graphics, and Gameplay are all superior.
