Lets All Play - Live!

Post by SirClive » Fri Aug 21, 2009 8:00 pm

I hope Darran is OK with me mentioning it here, but at Retro Reunited we will be running a live version of Lets All Play.
We will set up 4 or 5 machines and play different conversions of the same game on them. People can have a go and leave comments about the game, have their picture taken playing it and all the usual LAP stuff. This will then hopefully make it into the mag as a special edition of the feature (meaning that those people who don't like the feature because they have already read the comments on the forum may get more from it!).

So the question is - What should we play? Needs to be a game it is easy to source at least 4 versions of and one that doesn't require people spending ages playing it.

Lets have your suggestions.

How about Warhawk, it's C64, Amstrad CPC, Atari 8-bit and Atari ST? (Oh, and NDS now courtesy of one of the original developers!)

Shinobi (SMS/NES/PC Engine/Amiga/Atari ST/ZX Spectrum/C64/Amstrad CPC/MAME/XBLA) springs in mind for this one.

how about something like Gauntlet

For a live event I'm guessing that something of arcade origin, but also multiplayer would be most appropriate

Shame bomberman is a bit too plain for much debate, aside from "they should/shouldn't have put kangaroos in it" it's essentially going to be pretty much the same on most conversions.
That said, some 4+ player bomberman setups at the event would be pretty welcome i reckon, winner stays on

IK+ [according to Wiki: Spectrum, C64, Amstrad CPC, Amiga and CD32, ST, GameBoy Advance, Playstation, Virtual Console]

The original Sensible Soccer, not SWOS [according to Wiki: Amiga, DOS, Atari ST, SNES, Game Boy, Sega Mega Drive, Atari Jaguar, Sega Mega-CD, Sega Game Gear, Sega Master System, Acorn Archimedes]

RD's Gauntlet suggestion is a great one though - possibly the only chance to have a multiplayer game featured in LAP
