You Tube downloading

Post by Kalore1 » Sun Apr 04, 2010 7:57 pm

I was wondering if any of you retro fans knew how to download a video from You Tube

I`ve been downloading some of my favorate demo`s & gameplay videos & just recently You Tube has removed the url of the video being played & I need that for my download program.

does anyone know of a solution to this problem or is there another way to do this?

I use Free Studio Manager from DVDVideoSoft. It has a whole suite of apps for video and audio downloading/converting/editing. A YouTube downloader is included.

The URL are still there, just click on the "share" button and the address appears...is that what you mean.
I use the site "keepvid" that works fine.

I use Apple's Safari browser to download YouTube video's, I can even download the HD videos too. I use a program called WinX Video converter to create WMV, AVI or MP4 files from YouTube's FLV file format.

aye, www.keepvid.com was a great way to grab vids but I recently noticed it being less and less able to locate the video.
I changed from the Fast Youtube Downloader firefox extension to Download Youtube Videos+ - it seems to do a better job, and you can access the vids from an icon in the toolbar instead of the extension adding some HTML to the page for you.

If the video cant be found its usually because the user has asked for the embedded code or sharing codes to be disabled and the keepvid thing cant find it..not only keepvid though all of them.

If anyone's looking to do similar on a Mac; using Safari, call up the Activity Window (Window --> Activity), find the tab the video's on, and Alt-double click the address of the video file (you'll know it by seeing its file size downloading on the right side of the window x MB / y MB). The video should then start downloading as an FLV file.

You'll be able to play the FLV file in QuickTime if you have the Perian plug-in, which is free and easy to find with a Google search.

Sorted!
