Berzerk origins

Post by davyK » Sat Mar 01, 2008 9:20 am

Hi. I am new'un so be gentle.

Enjoyed the "making of " feature on Berzerk - particularly because of the reference to the old PC "robot" game. I can remember playing something very similar on the DEC VAX mainframe system in work.

I enjoyed it so much I have made a BlitzBasic version of it.

This isn't a real-time game like Berzerk mind - its quite similar to the original turn-based "Robot" game. You're welcome to try it and the source code is included if that floats your boat. It works OK but the code is a bit ropey - I' m planning a rewrite and then looking at doing a real-time version which would make it more like Berzerk.

Just thought - people might think I'm a spammer or something. This is a genuine link and you won't be directed to any dodgy sites..promise.

I use the same moniker on the Edge, AtariAge and ArmchairArcade forums - and I'm "davykelly" on the MonroeWorld forum....
