How about a Rambo feature

Post by monkey puzzle » Thu Feb 28, 2008 4:08 pm

I've just seen the new Rambo film and was thinking "why not have a feature on the Rambo games?" to tie in with the release of the movie? There was quite a few, and most of them were pretty good. You could do it as a "The definitive" or even a "making of" one of the games.
Anyone else agree?

Missed the boat for the movie release, it'd take time to commision, write and publish.

Start preparing now and we could have it well timed for the DVD release though.

Mm. Bear in mind that Darran's currently sending out commissions for issue 51. A Rambo feature would have been a good idea, though.

Issue 51 should be around DVD release time. 2-3 months is the norm for something like this now isn't it?

I can see the feature now: "To coincide with the rubbish Rambo film, we take a look at all the rubbish Rambo games, starting with the piece of crap Ocean shat out for the 8-bits in 1985 (apart from Galway's music, of course, which was utterly ace)".

Thinking about it, were there any really good Rambo games?

The arcade version of Rambo III was pretty good.

I always enjoyed Rambo 3 on the Amstrad CPC. I assume it's the same version for C64 & Spectrum as well.

That's the ONLY decent Rambo game I've ever played however.

I enjoyed it too. Not the best movie in the series, but it wasn't bad.

I quite enjoyed the Megadrive version of Rambo III, particularly the behind-the-shoulder 3D sections where you fought the helicopter...

The Amiga version of Rambo III was ok, but Rambo:First Blood Part II for the C64 was better, imho. I've never seen a Rambo game for the first movie, so I guess there wasn't one...

Because the first movie wasn't called Rambo, it's called First Blood...

Rambo for the C64 is incredibly over-rated. Great sound , pretty ordinary gameplay. The speccy version is better , more like a strategic version of Commando
