You did, just then.

For me, it was the the first game I ever played on one, Space Invaders.

The rich kid at the end of the road got a VCS with the SI box in when they first came out and charged the rest of paupers on the street 5p a go.

Boy was he popular...

Kaboom was my favourite. It was a great day when I wiped the smile off the mad bombers face!

Adventure.

I have played and re-played this one so many times. Magic... :)

E.T.! Don't look at me like that. For a 7-year old stuck on a ZX80 it was bliss, and the theme tune made me cry (bless). I also had a mega-crush on the girl who owned the console, and would flirt outragously by croaking, stretching my neck and trying to touch her finger...

I have only played on a 2600 once in my lifetime... and that was at the Game On exhibition at the Science Museum last year. No need to kill me though, as the game they had up and running was Pitfall. Needless to say, it is a great game! :)

My girlfriend played Chicken on the 2600 at Game On and really liked it. Since then I have introduced her to the delights of Frogger :)

 Were you very small as a child so you could'nt step off it. Or had a sibling superglued you to it?

Then you appear to vent your anger by performing a wrestling move on an early girlfriend.... shameful behaviour....but was it effective

Dodgem and Space Shuttle Simulator. Honorable mention goes to Ghost Busters and Pitfall II.

For me it has to be Demon Attack. I played it on a mate's console and it was really hard if I remember correctly.

Space Invaders - it might have been crap compared to the arcades, but it paid for itself in a matter of DAYS!!!
WTF!? The 80's are GONE!? And they're never coming BACK!?

Agreed. HERO has to be the best 2600 game. What other game of it's time allowed you to rescue miners being terrorised by spiders, snakes, tentacles and worst of all, er, those moths.

Enduro runs a close second. The first game with a changing day night cycle. (With extra snow and fog thrown in for good measure.)

Even better, it had that fantastic 'fart' noise when you died. My brother and I laughed for months.

The original classic Pac-Man. This was the first game I ever played on the Atari 2600.

Swooping over the snow hills of Hoth battling AT-AT's, brilliant!!!

(You felt like you were really there... :P )

Rock hard to boot! A classic IMHO

Pitfall made the biggest impression for me as it was one of the first games I played on my cousin's shiny new 2600. Oddly enough he managed to convince me that I would break his machine if I made Harry run from right to left, rather than left to right! I was never game enough to try, I mean what if he is right? No seriously, what if.....?
