Retro Gamer - Issue 205

Post by Crusty Starfish » Wed Mar 18, 2020 10:32 am

Well, had this for a few days now and no one posting about this!

A better cover with a Megadrive and SNES with characters facing off.

Inside:

16 Bit war - not read. Will do but not top of the list.
The Evolution of Uridium - BRILLIANT! What a great read :)
Making of Skidmarks and Super Skidmarks - Again, BRILLIANT! I loved these games on my Amiga/Amiga1200.
Minority report - C64. Some real gems there - I've played most but some new ones to have a look at.
Making of Robocop Vs Terminator - Not read. Never played it. Will read it!
Desert Island Disks, Martyn Carroll!! - Nice little read and great to see his choice of games includes a C64 game
Ultimate Guid to Hard Drivin' - I absolutely HATED this game on every format I ever had the misfortune of playing - even on MAME! Will read just to see what the fuss was about!
History of Heretic - This was a great game so will be reading this.
Reigniting Jetman - no interest in the actual cartoon as wasn't a Crash buyer. BUT great to see Chris Wilkins in Retro Gamer!
Tim Kitzrow - Who?! Looking at his game list, no interest in him.
From the Forum - most excellent as I am in it. :)
Homebrew section is good... other bits n bobs I'm just flicking through.

Overall - a really good issue!

Well, our office has been closed indefinitely so I have plenty to read during my 'breaks' while working from home for the next however many months.

Good one for me this month. Hated the cover mind and I normally don't give a toss. The consoles look weird. Oh, and I imagine some of the cards stats will trigger a few people😂

Ah! Forgot to say about the Top Trump Style cards included. A bit similar to something else I believe :!:

Yeah a good issue, loved the Uridium and Hard Drivin' articles, not read the 16-but war yet, but looking forward to it.

I have to admit though, those "Top Trumps" went straight in our recycling.

One category similar. Different selection, different rules.

So I pitched the Tim Kitzrow interview because I felt it was something RG hadn't touched on before.
And I hope you enjoy the Minority Report, it was a lot of fun narrowing the selection down.

As a reader I enjoyed Lewis talking about Skidmarks (no sniggering) and the Heretic piece.

So, international print subscriptions on hold for a while - hopefully they keep their word and do send them out at a later date, I'd be gutted if I missed a few issues!

I'm really glad you did, the article was very interesting. On the back of it I bought and read the NBA Jam book that was mentioned and that was really worth it. Not only did it cover the whole history of the Game but also the rise and fall of Midway as a company. I'd highly recommend it.

Will there be a physical copy this month for non-subs?
Thoughts and prayers.

It was on sale in the W H Smiths in and around Aberdeen before the lockdown, so it should still be on the shelves in the supermarkets near you that usually stock it. Otherwise, you can get a copy posted to you from the link below. :)
