Questions for Rebecca 'Bard's Tale' Heineman

Hello all - my first interviewee of 2019 has quite the tale. Rebecca has been in the business since the early 80s, helping to found Interplay and has had stints at EA and Ubisoft among many others. She's been involved in a huge number of games and I've done a 'Selected timeline' below but look at her entry on mobygames and you'll see even more.

She transitioned in the Noughties (so you might know her as Bill Heineman from her game credits before that) and I've just seen she was a Space Invaders champ in 1980 and writes Ranma 1/2 fan fiction, which made me smile!

As always, ask anything you want and I'll do my best to get it answered and get your name in the mag. I'm skyping her next week and this is for RG192.

Cheers in advance!

Did you play tabletop roleplaying games before being involved in The Bard's Tale series?

What did you love and hate about the Apple II hardware?

What was your favourite dev kit/hardware setup to work on?

Did you ever hide anything in your titles that hasn't been discovered...yet?

Which game was the most lucrative for you personally?

As someone that has had a long career in the industry, how hard was the transition between generations (i.e. 8bit to 16bit)?

How do you see the resurgence of the "bedroom coder" and small teams and their impact on the current industry.
