Mine would be Street Fighter 2 Turbo on the SNES, because that is the one I have played the most. I still play it all the time.

Street Fighter II: Special Championship edition for the Megadrive. i remember ordering it along with the 6 button pad from Rumbelows and then having to wait for weeks for it to be released. Fetched it the day it came out and me and my mate played it to death all while he complained the SNES version was better (something to do with the speech??)

i still have it, but my son isn't old enough to play it yet.

SF2 Turbo in the arcade, but SF4 Arcade runs it close :)

SF2 Turbo on the SNES.

I also enjoy Super with the extra characters but it just lacks something compared to Turbo.

I think Street Fighter Alpha 3 clinches it for me. The game design is mechanically rich and benefits from years of refinement, the character roster features lots of familiar faces, and the graphics are amongst the greatest seen in a 2D fighting game.

Probably SF2 arcade, although more of a fan of Final Fight/Streets of Rage scrollers personally- and more of a fan of MK2 style if I am playing 1 vs 1 fighters :)

Probably Street Fighter 4. It's easy to forget how impressive it was when it came out, thanks mainly to Capcom milking it to death.

I'll put in a word for SF4 Champion Edition. Many would have scoffed a few years back that there could be a fighting game you could play on your mobile phone with only touch controls, but there it is.

Darkstalkers. Much more interesting character designs offset the more irritating aspects of the game.

Street Fighter 2: World Warrior, because it represented a colossal improvement over SF1. I also liked that the four boss characters are not available to the player, preventing their trivialization.

While I do have a soft spot for SF II, 3rd Strike is my favorite Street Fighter game. It was the game that made an instant fan during my early years of college, the fluid animations and urban soundtrack adds to the mood. However, it was the gameplay which hooked me the most. The ability to parry your opponent's attacks had me wanting to practice each day.

I'll never be on the same level as Daigo, but I'll always remember the satisfaction I got when I successfully performed a parry.

I'd say Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition (PS2).

Although it didn't do everything perfect, it did offer the CPS1, CPS2 and 3DO version music - including new remixes for the new characters in the CPS1 style which sound amazing, the controls are pretty good and the analogue sticks are pretty nice to use with the game, and the graphics are faithful to the original games.

@kebabinho, the MD version indeed had crackly samples while the SNES sounded crisper. There is a fan-made patch to fix this bug: it relates to when they redid the soundtrack from the SFII Turbo MD prototype, and they messed up with how it handled the DAC, or something like that. I'm in no way an expert on how it all worked.

SFII Champion Edition on the Mega Drive - a great 6 button controller and playing as the bosses bested the SNES version. Now I'll play on either 16 bit console but after that the games became too complex.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 in the arcade, to me this was the complete game, all those years and all those turbos this and editions of that, all ended in a bang with the smashing Street Fighter Alpha 3...
