From The Forum issue 174 - Your favourite Xbox game

Post by NickThorpe » Thu Sep 21, 2017 10:19 am

Hi everyone, it's time to turn thoughts into data represented as words, which we then print on paper! This month's question is a simple one:

What's your favourite Xbox game?

Just to clarify, that's the original one from 2001, not the Xbox 360 or the Xbox One. I'd go for Ninja Gaiden myself - it was rock hard and beautiful to watch in action.

As usual, a selection of your replies will appear in the mag.

Not being a mega-fan of the X-Box, the only game I spent anytime on was Project Gotham. A mate and me would challenge each other with lap times and just normal racing, got quite intense at times!
Its small, its fast, its just gone past! www.clublupo.co.uk

Halo, without a doubt, it got me back into gaming.
Every month we would get 16 friends together, 4 Xboxes and 4 tv's and play Halo for hours, system link was amazing, still my best memory of gaming. Xbox live is not the same.

I actually bought an Xbox (and modded it) just to play Tony Hawk 2X, I imported the game from the states but it was definitely worth it! Why this was not released in the UK i'll never know

Mashed - Fully Loaded is such a great party game, and challenging for a solo player as well. Love the silly samples too. "I banged my weirdly shaped head"

It has to be Panzer Dragoon Orta. So beautiful and stunning to look at and even more involving to play.
Then there's Otogi 2, another great xbox game and who can forget Halo 2 which iterated excellently upon the original game.

Has to be OutRun 2. Took one of the best games ever made and brought it right up to date!

I would say Panza Dragoon Orta, which still looks great today when using a component cable for an HDTV. That alone is worth getting an Xbox for. Especially as they only cost about £20 in Cash Converters.

Xbox exclusive had to be Halo. Though GTA San Andreas got the most gaming time on xbox I think

It was the first machine that I played Half Life 2 on, and it was an amazing achievement on the hardware, it does struggle technically in a few places, but I loved it, and for some reason Woolworths were selling it for only twenty quid a few weeks after release which made it all the more enjoyable.

Half Life 2 was indeed great, as was that Far Cry Instincts game which was even bigger than Half Life 2 and had improvements over the pc version such as animal powers....

I feel the xbox controller is much better for first person shooters as well....

I have never played a game on any variant of the Xbox. Does that make me a bad person?

I don't think I've really played on one bar a few minutes of Halo as I wasn't fussed on it!
