Entombed by Ultimate Play the Game. Chunky graphics but boy was that an atmospheric game! Also Master of Magic by Mastertronic as had that haunting and very long Hubbard soundtrack to draw you into a £1.99 bargain.

Oh my word...

Skooldaze (I was still at School, come on - naming the teachers after my own)
Bubble Bobble (I won a copy in a Zzap! 64 competition all those years ago)

Enduro Racer and Chase HQ, because they showed how much better the Speccy was!
Buggy Boy - showed how a game could be translated from the arcade in a format that was perfect for far less powerful home machines.
Paradroid - a nice complement to Quazatron on the Speccy
Labyrinth (Activision) - brilliant graphics, fantastic audio and a top notch adventure
Wizball - unbelievable music, amazing graphics, fantastic gameplay - and p*ssed all over the 'superior' 16 bit machine's conversion.

Never owned a Commodore 64 but always looked forward to playing Graham Gooch's Cricket round my mates house, after school.
Re: From THe Forum: Issue 170
Impossible Mission, for pixel perfect platforming par excellence. IK+, for triple threat thumping chaos. And Project Firestart, for... well, seeing "danger" written in blood within the first two minutes means the whole thing's gone to hell in a handcart very quickly. And you're in the middle of it.
Re: From THe Forum: Issue 170
Castle Wolfenstein and Lode Runner, along with a few Infocom adventures for me. When we had games nights we used to play the likes of Paperboy, Buggy Boy, DK and Mario Brothers

Ghostbusters is the game I feel I must have above all others. If you took that game away and left me with every other game in the GB64 catalogue, the C64 just wouldn't be the C64 to me anymore.
Re: From THe Forum: Issue 170
Dropzone. I did not play it back in the day. I first played it about 10 years ago. To me, it is THE stand-out game on the C64.

Bruce Lee ridiculously easy to finish but so addictive
Vixen like Rygar with a female bought it for the cover rang the phoneline "still play the game
Ninja another easy game to finish and I'm probably in a minority liking it so much
Last Ninja 2 remix like a arcade game intro, cut scenes and a proper ending no loading being a cart
Wonderboy like it more than the arcade game
Willow Pattern another game I still play now, a better oriental version of the Plus 4's Treasure Island

Batman the movie! loved the variety of levels.
also unlike the NES version, this was actually based off the plot of the movie!
