Just received mine. Nice issue for me this month

Love the Half Life II article, played that game till i completed it. Good times
Commodore Pet - Never had one but a nice article, shall be reading that more later
Imagine - Funny to read as always Bruce.E blaming tape to tape youngsters, more like Imagine blowing the money like crazy on many crap games
Rogue Squadron - One of my favourite games, wish they would release more

My favourite issue for a long time, it even features a C16 game which is a nice bonus.

Plenty of my retro content with Nebulus, Chuckie Egg 2, Mega Man X, SG-1000 and Imagine Software.

Half-Life 2 seems too new to be in the mag, perhaps it still holds up well today.

Shame the new super thin plastic wrapper the subscription now posts with did'nt protect the mag from being ripped through several back pages. This is the first damaged mag I have experienced with Retro Gamer. Bring back the Imagine pokes!

I've barely read the magazine yet, but as soon as I saw that there was an article on Sly Spy I had to check whether or not Geoff Folin's C64's incredible soundtrack got a mention - and it did! I used to just press pause, then sit back and listen.

Now THIS is a good issue! Would have preferred a Half Life 2 cover but I suppose Rogue Squadron will do :D Quick flick through and noticed Darran calls the game Rouge Squadron in his little intro

Will be diving in on my day off tomorrow for a good read.

Nebulus! Good to see one of the best C64 games get featured in the mag. :)

Great article on Imagine, hoping one day some one will write the definitive book on the rise and fall of Imagine.

not sure about the best non japanese MSX games article. If Space Walk is one of the top 20 then there must be not much to choose from.

Sorcery was good on MSX. Written for the machine. Maybe you have already done an article on that as it is an Amstrad game
Blagger was good
Manic Miner/JSW were converted well
The Wreck from Electric Software is an original and was technically very good. Shark Hunter from the same company was good at the time
Elite - maybe the best 8 bit version. Certainly better than spectrum, amstrad and c64 versions
Boulder Dash was as always good

He did the amiga music too which is also awesome. So great playing the game again and listening to it.

Heh, I'm reading back issues from 2006/2007 right now. And they treat N64 as retro then. HL2 came out in 2004, 13 years ago. N64 was "active" from 1996 to 2000ish. I think we old guys need to get new glasses.

It's worth remembering that in this case it's a list by our own team. It's an opinion piece so there's likely to be disagreement because we all like different things :)

What a great issue.
So much good stuff... best issue for years.

My only grip is (I know I've moaned about this a lot) is the Star Wars article is quite hard to read. White text on black background is fine. But then there is a white starfield behind the text. Small moan. Otherwise fantastic.

I can't read half the Imagine article in my copy of the mag. Some pages ok but others have a darker blue background and all the white text is blurred. Like looking at it without glasses on :(
