Can we have 'view active topics' back on the main index page?

Roberthar has 40 posts with links to African porn. I hope it's not too retro!

How new is this "new" version of phpBB?

The avatar size limits are still ridiculously small, there's still no video embedding available.
its in keeping with the retro theme, like browsing a forum before youtube

You know that should be short for retrospective, not retrograde!

Bring back MPM!! You would have hoovered those posts up a long time ago. I don't understand why they removed the existing voluntary mod team, it all seemed to be going quite smoothly, especially when it came to spam.

Spam - just like corned beef, but spammier - and less popular...

I guess the limitations on avatars is because not everyone's got fibre optic speeds - heck, there's still some people in the UK on dialup - granted, they're extremely rare, but they are out there...

Perhaps because it wasn't the FUTURE of how the mag wanted the forum to be moderated?
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

Hi everyone,

Just to answer a few of the questions floating around here.

This update takes us from PHPBB 3.0 to 3.2, the very latest from the PHPBB team.
This brings with it a lot of new features, and a few changes that our outside of our control.
Check out this link for some extra info: https://www.phpbb.com/about/launch/

In regards to themes, unfortunately the old 3.0 themes are incompatible with the new system.
This means that the theme currently in use was completely re-built. So simply enabling alternative themes is not a quick or simple job.
If there is enough demand for a dark theme alternative, we can certainly consider putting time aside for it.

In terms of moderators and spam, no moderators were removed in the upgrade process. So any changes here are a separate event.
Unfortunately, the spam extension that was used on the pre-upgrade forum, has not been updated for years, and is therefore incompatible with the update.
We have installed an alternative, but we will still require the human touch to keep on top of spam.
Im sure if this becomes an issue, the mag team will be looking for extra hands in the form of voluntary moderators.

Keep posting any questions here, and i will do my best to check in periodically.
Again, if you spot anything you believe to be broken, do let us know immediately and i will take a look!
