The SNES. With a back catalogue of games that could fill a Greatest Games Ever list, the Super Nintendo is near perfect. It just highlighted the massive leap in technology from 8 to 16 bit. It changed peoples perceptions of games in general along with the term 'Arcade Perfect'. And it still has the best joypad of any console.
Re: Discuss Section - 166
Much as I'd loved to say C64GS due to my love of Commodore, I can't hah hah... it has to be the Super Nintendo. It was when Nintendo got on point with their franchises, arguably producing the pinnacle for three (Mario, Metroid, Legend of Zelda) together with an abundance of classics from the likes of Konami, Capcom, Square and Rare. It was THE console to own for RPGs, yes yes, people will say the PS1 surpassed it, but nope, I disagree. So many of them never made it to the West, and have become available later due to translation patching, that there's so much to see and do.
Re: Discuss Section - 166
The PS1 for me. Practically every game seemed to be different and original, and of high quality. Sony's console seemed to really spark a creativity in programmers, and it seemed like games were fresh and interesting again.

SNES, I love the controller and the games are awesome. I still play the SNES more than my XBox One now. Super Mario World, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Bomberman 4 Player, Super Castlevania, Super Ghouls N Ghosts, Turtles In Time, plus many other games.

Part of me feels it's hard to dispute this. It's arguably weak in JRPGS but when it comes to a diverse library, backwards compatibility and its digital stuff there's very little to beat it.HalcyonDaze00 wrote:the 360, because it's the best games machine of all time

SNES - perfect balance between graphics and gameplay. Whereas a lot of 32 bit games haven't aged well, the basics of 2d games haven't changed that much since then so the games are as playable as ever.

Re: Discuss Section - 166
The megadrive - brought arcade quality into my home and so many classics from Streets of rage , John Maddens , pga golf , speedball 2 , sonic 2 , Golden axe , fifa international soccer , desert strike , strider , aladdin , toe jam and earl plus so many more
Luxor the moonprince - Doomguard Slayer
Re: Discuss Section - 166
The sega Master system. Great games, some good arcade conversions, a light gun as part of the bundle. And sonic was better on it than the mega drive.
Re: Discuss Section - 166
I've never been much of a console fan. Apart from the VCS I've only had the four Playstations. One of the PS models, as they were/are all excellent in their day. I can't really pick one.

megadrive for me too
simply because of the early EA sports games
and since i use a few of them to make my simming competitions
WITHOUT the original EA HOCKEY i probably wouldn't spend hour upon hour doing them
oh and some other good games on the machine too
second would be the original gameboy
good grief did i play that a lot, with DYNABLASTER, TOP RANK TENNIS and finished SUPER MARIO WORLD ..... and considering how unbelievably BAD i am at every other mario game that's saying something
third the GLOOOOOOOOOOORIOUS PS2
no GTA and dvd playback, and i would be an XBOX buyer!!!

Sorry, but it's the Wii. I just couldn't stand the NES, Master System, MegaDrive, SNES, etc. etc. and only got the Wii to surprise the kids at Christmas. I don't think we have ever had as much fun and enjoyment with any other system - and to this day, we still use it (even though we have the Wii-U).
