Personally i tended to have the early redesigns anyway as a kid as when my parents could afford it they were usually on second iteration anyway. Megadrive 2 being a prominent example for me (and i prefer it to the 1 as it is more sleek)

Loved those Russian Spectrum clones. Remember someone posting on here with a picture of one which was made out of wood! (Haven't been able to find a pic of it since).
