Always a nice surprise when it pops through the letterbox when you dont expect it...

Ha ha very controversial ! I presume because of the cut off point for the 'bet 8 bit computer' the Speccy won with 50% and the C64 in 2nd with 37% Only adds up to 98% though, there were only 4 options werent there ? Wasnt an 'Other' ?

Impressive homebrew reviews for Blizzards Rift and Cannon Bubble.

Back to the 80's is as good as always

Love the SNK feature (Part one),

Guide to Frogger looks very good. Barbarian 1 and 2 feature, Pirates feature (Must admit never tried this game before), look back at the NES. Great machine and love so many of its old skool looking games.

Not my cup of tea but an article on the rise and fall of virtuality.8 pages !

Next month looks good with a look at Duke Nukem 3d, one of the best games ever !

And for all the tree huggers , theres only one full page dodgy porn ad and about half a page on something else. Bit upsetting what advertisers must think of us when theres ads for 2 gay chat lines though !

'best 8 bit computer' the Speccy won with 50%

I bet there will be at least one very unhappy Hungarian now

The CPC managed only 7%—Darran's now alternating between sobbing under his desk and stomping around Bournemouth in a furious rage*. But what of the missing 2%?

* May not be entirely factually accurate.

At the time of print it was actually ahead.

Hmm. I'm wondering if this says something about your commitment to the mag, Darran. In order to ensure the polls are bang up to date, you should really be caning it around the UK (and abroad), updating each issue of Retro Gamer with some Tipp-Ex and a biro.

so that means at the time of going to print if the bbc had of had 1 vote more than the c64 and the spectrum that would of been the greatest 8-bit. damn we missed out there.

Ah well. Mind you, this does throw up a serious point, in that few readers seem to realise the lead times in magazine publishing. Issue 38 plopped through my letterbox this morning, but I submitted an article for issue 40 last week. Even last-minute stuff is usually a few weeks behind the mag ending up on the shelves.

As for the issue itself, there's something about this one that makes it feel really meaty—very content-rich.

It would be better to put an end date on the polls, it might stop the C64 fanoys signing up just to bump up their score

Awesome piece of Rollercoaster trivia in the Dragon's Lair piece. I did not know that. Kudos!
