I think it was one of the Scott Adams text adventure games for the VIC-20 - Most likely Pirate's Cove...

Bump 'n' Jump on the Atari 2600. Played it for 10 or so hours straight. Think it fried my machine too, it wouldn't turn on the next day.

Underwurld on the Speccy.

I entered a magazine competition where you had to map out the game and send in the map.

I mapped it out on a load of wallpaper all taped together and hanging on the whole of my bedroom wall.

It took me weeks to play the game and draw the map and when i finally finished i sat back to have a good look and thought..."Oh crap i can't send this through the post.!!"

A complete waste of time but good fun all the same.

Look ...if I say 'Strider' will I get in the magazine?

Failing that , I think it was Golden Axe in the arcades.

Willow Pattern Adventure (C64) - Far from easy but it was such a good game, it was worth the perseverance.

I think it was probably Last V8 on the Atari 8-bit, before that i was playing mostly games that simply didn't have an ending!

It was Skool Daze of the speccy, took me hours to find out Mr Creak's Birthday, but I get it in the end :D

Dungeon Master on the Atari ST. I nearly filled my pants in fear several times during the process. I was only young, after all.

Hmm... thinking back to very old games than could be finished, it was probably Adventure on the 2600. Most of them didn't have an ending, did they?!

Oh, if we're talking games with an actual ending, then my first was Kung-Fu Master on the A7800 I think.

You know what, I cannot remember  might have been Super Mario World on the Snes.

Robocop in the arcades, I came rather late to the finishing games party.
