Issue 155

Post by the_hawk » Wed May 18, 2016 5:15 pm

Just dropped through the door & had a quick skim through, loads of stuff I'm looking forward to this month.

Funny that there's a HUGE article on the history of Sega....but the cover's a horrible NES.

Edit: just spotted it's a weird double cover thing...and the other cover isn't Sega either!

Who do I need to contact about the fact that my sub arrived today but Issue 38 appears to have been put in the envelope by mistake?

That was amusing... Opened the package and saw a fantastic cover! Opened the mag and it was printed upside down and seemed to be the last page
Turned the mag over and.......... NES. Needless to say, the mag will be kept the other way around.
There are 2 pretty big articles in there - NES and Sega so I assume it was a toss up as to what one got the cover and the NES is quite simply the ugliest console in the history of ugly consoles. Surprised that Sega didn't get the back cover though?!

On a more positive note: Scramble, Burgertime, C64, 2600 Empire Strikes Back, Master of Orion :D

I adore the NES and love the boxy look and everything about it. Fantastic cover and one of the most iconic looking consoles in history.

The underpants advert seems a bit out of place...

Nes and Sega articles look great, maybe these should have been the dual cover although nice to see lesser known games get the cover treatment. Can we sneak an Amstrad cover in like this?

I don't hate the cover, although it's a bit dull. It's just that it's been done before. Similar articles or games featured multiple times is one thing (Ant Attack yet again) but an original cover isn't too much too ask?

Also, perhaps it's me but a whole bunch of new faces on the first page? How's about some sort of introduction?
TBH, I've not read the previous 2 issues yet so apologies if it's been done!

I've been knocking around on the mag for a year and a half now, it's just taken a while to get an illustration made.

I thought it was a spoof advert at first, like Sega's pirate TV ad for cat food. It's certainly amusing.

What on earth is Master of Orion?

Either way, looks good (the proper NES cover I mean!)

Always look forward to the shiny blue delivery in my letter box!

Master of Orin is a strategy game, considered the founder of 4X games.
There's a making of in the issue and a remake/reboot on the way.

I had it on MS-DOS growing up, my brother was crazy over it if I recall correctly.

Not that bothered about NES/Sega/1999 articles, but the rest of the mag looks like its been written for me this month. Good show, nice to get an issue heavy on older stuff every now and then.
