R-Type, purely for the first game. Although Leo is pretty damn fine, too.

*Super R-Type and Final. Yuck.
Are you kidding? R-Type Final is f**king fantastic!

I went with UN Squadron, loved it.

Gah options missing.

Assuming it's not series we're talking about then it's R-Type for me.

It's hard to choose between R-type and gradius. I went with R-type in the end as I feel it's less unfair when you've lost your extra weapons, thanks largely to the charge beam feature.

Poor Darius. Not a single vote. Not even from me!

I own R-Type and UN Squadron and Salamander on Jamma - heh :) And Carrier Airwing which incidently wees all over UN Squadron, but hey...

Of the ones listed, I have been known to loop Salamander 6 times over on 1 credit on default settings, so I got a soft spot for that particular one....

Just try the 6th loop - the freakin power ups actually start firing at you!!

So that was my choice - love it

Eek! I wonder what happens in the 7th loop? Your options start taking potshots at you?

or are they called 'multiples' in Salamander... I can never remember.

I was torn between R-Type and UN Squadron.

Not really invested that much time in any of the others truth be told.

I love R-Type, but for sheer fun - I have to go with UN.

I remember playing this game loads when it was in the local bus station arcade!

As for R-Type, apart from the Spekky and MasterSystem versions, I only managed to play it a couple of times in an arcade.

They both have very distinctive styles, and UN just felt more "relaxed" if you know what I mean!

UN Squadron is bar far the coolest - R-Type is too slow and too hard ,
I'd class Salamander/Gradius as ok , but rely far too heavily on upgrades

I presume only arcade versions?

Post by herbevore » Tue May 29, 2007 5:14 pm

Cause then I voted for R-Type.

But why no 'In The Hunt'? Which IMO is better than any other listed.
