Bookazines / Specials

Post by psj3809 » Wed Aug 05, 2015 7:09 am

I'm a big fan of all the bookazines for both Games TM (Retro section) and Retro Gamer, have them all.

I also buy all the small 'specials' on the app, eg Team 17 (RG), 30 games that changed the world (Games TM). They're often a few quid and are obviously small compilations of material from past magazines

We've had Speccy/C64/Atari ST/Amiga bookazines etc and now we seem to be going back through them with 'new improved' ones.

Any chance of an 'Arcade' bookazine ? Eg collate a chunk of past arcade features/articles into one bookazine or emag special ?

Nope, no ST one yet. They did a digital one for iOS, which is a bit annoying as I don't use an Apple device.

But yeah, an arcade one would be cool.

That would make a great bookazine. It would be all pac man, street fighter, galaga etc. There's more than enough great content from past issues so choosing which makes the cut would be fun. A large photo of an arcade machine on the cover would be an instant sale here. I've got a little Arcade themed board game prototype in the making and Retro Gamer was a main source of research for all things arcade. I think an Arcade bookazine (not digital) would be a big seller among both gamers and non gamers that will pick up the mag as they would have no doubt played arcade machine at some point in their childhoods. Who do we bribe to move this up the chain of command and can I volunteer to edit it! :)

I've been asking for an arcade bookazine for years. It's a no brainer as far as I can see.

Just picked up the Playstation book today (digital), first impressions it looks good

Started looking through the spreadsheet of past Retro Gamer content, yep there is tons of arcade stuff in it, really do hope they do an arcade bookazine. Looked for gameboy mono and there wasnt as much as i thought.

But more bookazines please ! The next Retro compilation (Games TM) is out some point in september, do enjoy those

I would buy the Arcade Bookazine too. So Much Content they could do a part 1 and part 2.

It's out today, but Smiths may not have it on sale.

Two retro revivals, mainly because we had enough good content on all the big hitters.
Smiths seem to take a while to get the books on the shelves for some reasons, but they're definitely out there.

Damn, been out of the loop, had no idea of a Playstation Bookazine. Ordered straight away from the store :)
