Damn this'll take some thinking back!
I originally had one of those 'Sports' consoles with pong variants on it, but I bought no games for it and it was bought for me. It would've had to have been when I had an Atari VCS. It was bought second hand for me with several games...but I went on to buy a few more. It would have been most likely Missile Command, Pitfall, Berserk or River Raid...can't remember which one I bought first

The first one i personally purchased with my own money was Home Alone on the megadrive and i loved it even if it wasnt my favourite game on the system.

Whoa! Far too long ago to remember. It would have been for the Commodore +4 I got for Christmas when I was 7 though and it might have been something like Big Mac or KikStart. Both great games.

BTW, didn't I just read this in #140?

Underwurlde on the Spectrum. A brilliant game which was better and more enjoyable than Knight Lore in my opinion.

I think it was Pyramid on the ZX Spectrum, I thought I had bought Doomsday Castle until I had got home and realised what I'd gone and bought, still it was a good game though.

I cannot really remember the first Game I bought with my own Money as it was so long ago. It was either Beach Head or Bazooka Bill for the Commodore 64 which I still have to this day.
Re: Discuss Time! Issue 141 Your first gaming purchase
After getting my Speccy i went out and bought 3 games for it...
Manic Miner
Halls of the Things
Dungeon Master
Manic Miner blew me away, back then on the Speccy this seemed 'arcade quality' compared to lots of the other BASIC games. Halls of the Things had about 2000 keys but at the time as a kid you used your imagination to really think you were entering dungeons etc. Dungeon Master was text based but a lot of fun, creating a map with my dad etc.
Even now when i have a quick few minutes on any of those it instantly takes me back to that golden time ! You never forget your first purchase !

not considering the pirate cassettes that were sold at the newsstand and that made 99% of the software available in Italy at the time, I bought Robon, a Berzerk clone for the Speccy which was not bad.

Most early stuff was bought for me by parents & older brothers. The first game I actually remember spending my own money on was Space Quest 1 for my CGA Amstrad PC. I remember even phoning the Sierra hotline when I got stuck a couple of times, back when you needed a helpline number as games were actually tough.

A lot of my early games were bought for me by my parents. I remember getting a hand-me-down PSOne and finally getting my hands on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 for it, which I bought with my own money. I'd wanted my own Tony Hawk game that I could play at home for years so I was absolutely over the moon about this. I was obsessed with those games, the arcade-style gameplay, the levels... and don't forget the hip-hop and punk soundtrack! Oh, that soundtrack.

I am pretty sure it was Fantasy World Dizzy. I had the original Dizzy on a crash tape. Virgin Megastores used to stock codemasters ZX tapes, and that is where I picked up my first (non-pirated) single ZX game on cassette.

First for me was Snoopy Tennis Game and Watch.
Loved it but missed the whole 8 bit era.
After that it was probably Alisia Dragoon for the Megadrive.
