Agree with that, doing what one person did and cancelling subscriptions/vowing never to buy another copy of RG again is totally throwing your toys out of the pram.
I had years without a great computer mag, since Crash/Your Sinclair there wasnt a computer mag which really grabbed me. I would rather have RG with a few soft porn ads than no RG at all. People getting upset and refusing to buy it (say then Retro Gamer stopped as everyone did that) is ridiculous. As i said i would rather the mag be around and me as a 34 year old basically flicks over a few soft porn ads
Yes indeed,
Both Elgin and Dudley made good points there, and at the end of the day I will continue to buy RG (as I know you guys will) with or without the ads and support the magazine. If RG did get the chop, its hard to say if the publication would get another lease of life elsewhere...
Yes, it would be "nice" to see less of these ads purely from a general point of view - but, RG needs them to pay the printers
Not buying the magazine will only harm it in the long run.
Karl
NO! Not buying the magazine will only harm it in the long run is a nonsense agenda that will never see any change WHATSOEVER.
The point is if you are going to stop reading RG, cancel your subscription and burn all the copies sitting in your bedroom WRITE TO THE GODDAM PUBLISHER AND TELL THEM WHY YOU'RE DOING IT!
Hey, Sweden!
They're not Swedish Mac, they're Norwegian!

Or just write to them and keep buying it in WH Smith, they'll never know

An "I will not renew my subscription if 'x' doesn't change" letter tends to be more effective than cancelling a sub and not telling the publisher why, yes.

Page 83 of issue 37 was terrible. There weren't nearly enough hedgehogs.
There you go.
Disclaimer: I don't think I've seen page 83 yet, and I can't be arsed to go downstairs and look at it.

Not until someone complains about page 83 of issue 37.
Fair point - there were no stars covering the rude bits and there wasn't an 0898 number underneath the picture - always wanted to call a chat line with a naked lady riding a dragon - how am I supposed to call her now?
