So many great games.

For the VCS, it's Pressure Cooker - great graphics, great sound and manic gameplay

On other formats Rescue on Fractulus! Few games make you want to **** yourselves; how many of us did that the first time we encountered a Jaggi trying to smash it's way into the cockpit?

Robot Tank was pretty good looking for the 2600. Used to jump when enemy shell (a black square) was fired directly to you and filling screen.

Repeatly missing the lift was funny as the wee robber kept on running on his merry way.

I'm a huge fan of the Civilization franchise, and while not the best Civ game, I really liked Civilization: Call to Power.

H.E.R.O. for the Speccy. First non-pirated game I got. I think I still have it somewhere. Very atmospheric and hard as nails.

Although developed by Interplay my favourite Activision game must be "The Adventures of Rad Gravity" on NES. A seriously underrated game. Never had there been a NES game with so much weirdness and originality.

I wouldn't say that it's particularly hard until towards the end; rather, the first few levels ramp up nicely and then it throws the works at you.

Anyway, of the early Activision ports to the Spectrum, H.E.R.O. was certainly the class act; it's just a shame they could only muster such a grotty port of Pitfall II.

Really hard to pick just one of their Atari 2600 games.

Pitfall / Pitfall II
H.E.R.O.
Kaboom!
Boxing
Fishing Derby
Keystone Kapers
Dragster
Ice Hockey
River Raid
Decathlon

They're all brilliant games (some only in 2-player mode) but I'll go for Pitfall II as it was my "holy grail game" many, many years ago.
I've got a few copies of it now though!

Possibly THE most prolific software company (over one machine) ever.

Frostbite (2600)
dolphin (2600)

frostbite , probably the finest game for the 2600 (together with solar fox) , it combines all the best elements of frogger , amidar
and is very polished , more like a c64 game .

Really got to be River Raid, played it for decades up to the present, so simple, yet one of the most satisfying, frantic shooters when it really gets going, honorable mention to H.E.R.O. another great game that plays so well, whichever machine you have it on.

me too! I had discovered it on the PSP collection and basically it was the only game I was playing. Simple and addictive.
