Leaving the UK tomorrow... is there a chance I could find it on the newsstands, or at the Gatwick airport perhaps? Or is it too soon?
Re: Retro Gamer Issue 123
Think too soon. Subscribers normally get their copy a few days earlierAmigaheart wrote:Leaving the UK tomorrow... is there a chance I could find it on the newsstands, or at the Gatwick airport perhaps? Or is it too soon?

There's always the digital version, not sure what date they update.Amigaheart wrote:Leaving the UK tomorrow... is there a chance I could find it on the newsstands, or at the Gatwick airport perhaps? Or is it too soon?

A few articles there that pique my interest, and will be reading properly in due course. Enjoyed the budget game feature, but Powerplay wasn't originally a budget title; I have the full price original in my collection. It was later released on budget by Players for the C64. Was it only released on budget for other systems then?

Usually the same day as the physical version hits the shops.Antiriad2097 wrote:There's always the digital version, not sure what date they update.Amigaheart wrote:Leaving the UK tomorrow... is there a chance I could find it on the newsstands, or at the Gatwick airport perhaps? Or is it too soon?

Can't wait to read this issue! The Salamander cover is great (I have a Salamander advertisement in my room
), the Cinemaware article should be amazing and also the Underdogs and the Salamander article itself too. Good, good.

My 3DO issue finally arrived last week, hopefully I won't have to wait another 3 weeks for this one! Cover looks great!
Re: Retro Gamer Issue 123
I think a new proof reader is needed. More errors than normal in this issue. Content is good though.
I can understand the love for the Salamander cover, especially with the cassette case design that always looks great, but I really think it should have been a Cinemaware cover (though at least you didn't use those awful Alex Kidd covers).

I agree a Cinemaware cover would have been better, but Salamander is still cool.
And yes, the Alex Kidd ones look AWFUL.

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 123
just must concur with the other airs on concern about the lack of Christmassy-ness on the cover... I think its kind of sad actually... even sticking a red santa hat or something on Mr Salamander would have been a nice touch!

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 123
Salamander is a far better cover than anything Cinemaware could have been. Its a fantastic, striking piece of imagery full of vivid colour. Cinemaware's desire to be cinematic was a style that worked for them, but it does err towards the drab with its natural, muted tones.
I've a backlog of issues to get through (not even opened one for about 3 months), but there's so much in this issue I want to read its jumping to the top of the pile and I'm even planning to stuff it in my bag to take to work, something I don't often do.

I didn't even knew Salamander, but the cover looks fantastic. I also agree that the other options were very inferior, even looking amateurish.
But yes, a Cinemaware cover would have been tops.
