Not as a rule, but perhaps as a one off at Christmas, I wouldn't mind paying an extra quid or two. There;s been the odd belter of a coverdisk, the one that springs to mind is the one with the Kickstart roms on it, if it were done once a year, perhaps there could be enough "good stuf" to whet most peoples lips?

You do realise putting a CD rom or DVD rom puts sales up as people who are bored will want to play the games on the disc and more will buy the Mag. Thats the reason I got a Live publishing issue once as I was bored and wanted somthing to play

I'm sure they are aware whether it will put up sales enough to warrant the extra cost/time

If i'm bored i simply go to the net and download games for any emulators or remakes

it really has to be done. If only to cry about how a major benefactor of the early console wars could very nearly have been UK based. :(

If that was true, why does the current mag not have one?

It might gain a few sales from people who don't have the internet but will lost many more from people thinking £6 for a magazine?!

Can't help noticing we've been round this discussion often enough before. Surprised it hasn't been locked for that reason.

i think one way to keep both sides happy would be.If any company/site wanted to give their old software away for free/Let them advertise it in RG.So the readers will get something free if they want it without having to pay extra for a covermount cd.There are some company sites that are giving away their old titles as free downloads.Cinemaware comes to mind, they are allowing you to download defender of the crown for the amiga legally.

I really couldn't agree more.

The odd very special/exclusive (a la Konix, audio CD, etc) coverdisk might be nice too, as of course would be any number of 3" disks. Or tapes. Or old computer bits stuck on the cover.
Usually blogging over at Gnome's Lair, steadily into Retro Treasures and some cabaret.

i bought four-four-two to read on the plane the other day. £4.10!!! - and they can't argue that's a "niche" market can they!

NO Coverdiscs PLEASE
