It has to be Tekken Tag Tournament 2. It has everything a Tekken fan could wish for... except Gon.

There are plenty I'd like to choose but it has to be Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower on the PSP. The best version content-wise of my favourite fighting game series. It's practically arcade-perfect, portable and I have no problems using the PSP d-pad to play it :)

Street Fighter II Turbo, all the way here. The pinnacle of the SF series imo.

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is on a different level to everything else.

If we are talking retro only then it's hard to split IK+/Barbarian/WOTEF.

I like a lot of fighting games, but my stand-out game is Bushido Blade. It did a number of new things like the arenas, realistic combat and damage and the honour system that elevates it above the large number of combo-heavy fighting games.
Suppose you were an idiot; suppose also that you were an XBox One owner. But I repeat myself.

Much prefer scrolling Beat em ups like SOR2, but I did put some time into Tekken 2 for a while.
Otherwise lets combine scrollers and one on ones and say Karateka!

Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition's major plus was being able to up the speed which counteracted the fact that it that the PAL game runs slower than the NTSC versions.

IK+ Though that's probably more a one on one on one fighting game.

Way of the Exploding Fist on the Speccy. Many great memories playing that one. Also Barbarian, a great laugh specially when you chop your mates head off!

Way of the Exploding Fist. Don't think I've spent much time with any other fighter since then.

Capcom vs SNK. Blending depth, Capcom, SNK and stunning presentation in one superlative package.

2D Fighters all the way! Capcom vs SNK 2 for me. This is a series that needs its third installment, especially with the genre booming again.
