Reader reviews

Post by Darran@Retro Gamer » Fri Mar 02, 2007 10:36 am

I'm in the middle of changing the front section of the magazine and making it more of an interactive community for the readers. One of the things I'm considering bringing back is the hall of shame and game of the month reviews that were in the old Retro Gamer.

But would you like the opportunity to put your own comments across in them?

Comments as in little boxouts with a micro review or second opinion would be great, but full blown reviews?, thats probably best left to the chaps who know what they're doing. I've never yet read a magazine where reader reviews (generally speaking) were very interesting.

That would be a cool idea, quite few Forum members have done this on their own sites aswell so their should be quite a few people wiling to do this sort of thing

Reader reviews? No thanks. But can you give Dudley his own column?

Despite the cynic in me thinking \"ooh unpaid labour\" , I wouldnt mind seeing it, or having a crack at it myself.

Dudley has his own column which he strokes earnestly while posting.

I'd write a review for 'Roland in the Caves' if only to redress the balance and give it the high score it deserves as one of the greatest games of all time.

I voted yes - I would love to see one of my reviews published
As requested by the Tw@t himself - his account was Hijacked and has had a change of password.

Sorry Dexter!

I've gone for YES also :D

I think it would be cool if some of the 8 bit comparisons made it into the mag too. Its a popular thread and a popular subject. I'm always annoyed that the mag will cover one version of the game - or if multi-format generally use one versions screenshots.

Bring on the reader reviews I say - it works fine in PC Zone and those that really really don't want them included could skip the pages

I agree with MattC on this one, me being a CPC fan (and a Roland fan) - but personally I'd review 'Roland In Time' and redress that as one of the greatest games of all time instead :D

I stillthink we should have a YS style 'Trainspotter' column in the mag that readers can respond to

YES is what I've voted for. The Hall of Fame and Shame sections were always a highlight in the old RG, plus it allowed me to discover some of the more obscure titles.
