Wonderboy
Super Hangon
Enduro Racer
Operation Wolf
& Sonic the Hedgehog

My only regret about this system when I had it was never using the Card slot or 3D glasses.

Transbot - The joys of playing a neverending game as a kid, and not knowing it.

Heavyweight Champ - Possibly the greatest boxing game of all time.

Zillion is up there with the best in my opinion, I have many fond memories of plotting out a map on paper as I went along so when I finally managed to set the timer going to destroy the mainframe I could follow the quickest route back.. Genuinely heart pumping action!

I'd have to go with Bank Panic, a game I find every bit as compelling now as I always did.

Probably not the best but Operational Wolf with the light gun is a lot of fun! :)

Lots of top games but if I had to pick one it would be Phantasy Star. Absolutely massive, great story, great gfx and sound took me years to finish it!

Oh I don't know about that. It's a great little conversion and I love how grenade is mapped to your pad. I used to press it with my foot back in the day. Still do actually.

I played some flicker-glasses 3D ones at the weekend.
Not one of those.

Op Wolf was excellent, I too used to use the pad on the floor for the grenade.

But the best game on the Master System has to be Wonderboy in Monsterland. The game is sublime, and better than the arcade original. It took months to complete - the final labyrinth was a real test of old grey matter.

They used to have a Master System 2 at the youth club I frequented as a child, and I spent many a happy Friday playing Bank Panic. For some reason I became mildly obsessed with this game, even though I was absolutely terrible at it.

After I became too old to attend the club as a "youth", I stayed on as a volunteer. It was here that my love of retro gaming grew, as people would often donate old consoles and games. By the time the club closed in 2007 they had acquired enough consoles that they had a separate game room. The Master System was still the most popular but they also had a Phillips CD-I, a Sega Megadrive, a PS1, two Game Boys with system links, a Playstation 2 and a couple of arcade games.

It was here that I rediscovered how great some of the old games were, and how great graphics and massive plots weren't as important to me as the sense of fun I experienced every time I played one of the old games.

So, Bank Panic is my answer. It may not be the best Master System game in terms of actually being good, but it makes me smile every time I think back to it. It is, without a doubt, MY best Master System game.

Had a go on the 3D glasses at Revival last weekend. You're not missing anything.

One thing that was great about the Master System was the official joystick, the 'SEGA Control Stick'. It was a really good quality short stick and had a 9-pin plug so you could use it on the 8-bit computers, at a time when their joysticks were dominated by Quickshot-like pistol grips and the loud clicky Competition Pro type with their tiring and awkwardly placed fire buttons. Although the buttons were on the wrong side for an arcade style fighting stick, it was a great one to hold in both hands.

I loved Scramble Spirits, excellent (albeit slightly easy) vertical shooter with catchy music and pretty fun two player mode!
