Re: From the Forum issue 113 Amiga
How can I choose one?!
Well, Magnetic Fields have a special place in my heart, and while Supercars 2 is awesome, I'll go with Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge, fantastic racer, nice tracks, good music, hard but not unfair, and most of all awesome sense of speed. It blew me away.

Is a top 5 ok!
1 - Sensible World of Soccer - At the time it blew every other footie game off the pitch with its simple yet highly addictive gameplay.
2 - Shadow of The Beast II - Although ridiculously difficult to complete without "Ten Pints" down your neck, it had great graphics and an even better soundtrack. The only game i looked forward to dying in!
3 - Pinball Fantasies - Again brilliant music and highly addictive...and sometimes very frustrating!!
4 - Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge - The guys must had had so much fun making this game i wouldn't even call it a "job"!
5 - Bloodwych - I remember an old friend (RIP) who played this game 24/7. The day i watched him sneak upon a dragon and unleash his best spell "WychWind", only for the dragon to simply turn around, give him a nasty look, and then chase him back down the corridor i was hooked!!

Re: From the Forum issue 113 Amiga
good grief! that really is an impossible question. Such a fantastic games machine I could easily pick fifty, never mind just one.
I will say that Championship Manager was the start of a 20 year addiction.....

Top 48, you say? In a random order?
Okay:
Settlers, The
Lemmings
Sensi.
Cannon Fodder
Flashback
UFO: Enemy Unknown
Another World
Syndicate
Formula One Grand Prix
Lotus Turbo Challenge 1/2
Laser Squad
Superfrog
Elite/Frontier
Chaos Engine, The 1/2
Stunt Car Racer
Super Cars 1/2
Alien Breed (all)
Hunter
Millennium 2.2
Breach II
Turrican II
Speedball
Pinball Dreams (and others)
Dungeon Master
Rodland
Microprose Golf
PGA Golf
Midnight Resistance
Bard's Tale
Prince of Persia
Kick Off 2
Bubble Bobble
Warhead
SWIV
Paradroid 90
F/A-18 Interceptor
Treasure Trap
Shadow of the Beast III
The Great Giana Sisters
Goal
Marble Madness
Defender of the Crown
The Faery Tale Adventure
The Manager
Moonstone
Hybris & Battle Squadron
Technocop
SSI RPGs
Sorry, but that was a massively cut down list. I could have added another 48 (though some of the above included multiple games) without any problem at all. There were so many great games out for the A500, that picking one is impossible.

Good heavens, one favourite game.. just one? You know what, it's easier doing my tax return than choosing the *one* above-all, favourite Amiga game, but if it means capital punishment if I dont choose just one (please tell me it does so it will make it easier for me), then I will have to go with... well.. Speedball 2. Totally original, addictive, highly polished, plays the same today as it did back in '90, and a game I will never, ever tire of.

Re: From the Forum issue 113 Amiga
Wow, this really is a hard question -there are so many. I'll go for 'Kick Off II' for the many, many nights spent playing it until the dawn in my University years.
Re: From the Forum issue 113 Amiga
My favourite game was Civilization. I only got an Amiga 500+ in 1994, it was by no means 'state of the art', but it was about this time I started to get into strategy games. You simply couldn't get many of these games on the Mega Drive and certainly not Civilization. I'd wanted to play Civ at home since 1991. When I finally got hold of my very own Amiga and Civilization I wasn't disappointed in the slightest.

Re: From the Forum issue 113 Amiga
So many to choose from, but the disk that took the most abuse was Deluxe Galaga, simple shooter done perfectly.
HADDOCKEN!

Re: From the Forum issue 113 Amiga
Alien Breed.
Everything about it was ace at the time.

Re: From the Forum issue 113 Amiga
Just one? Cripes, I could be deciding this for the rest of my life! Ok... Speedball 2 is an absolute Classic and thoroughly enjoyable let down only by limited league play, Battle Isle is my favourite strategy let down by a real need for a second player all the time, so I think I will have to give a boring answer: Sensible World of Soccer - absolutely TERRIFIC!
Re: From the Forum issue 113 Amiga
Agreed! But... only 'at the time'? It still blows every footy game off the pitch!Achilles wrote:Is a top 5 ok!
