Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday

It was the first RPG of any type since Wasteland to keep me completely enthralled from start to finish. It meant keeping my youngest brother off his Megadrive while I played it, but that was his own fault for not being old or big enough to shift me. Brilliant game.

Only just beats out the epic Landstalker.
I lost hours and hours disabling and boarding heavy and mercurian cruisers, I just used to trash the mediums and scouts. Fantastic game.

Whilst I was tempted to go with Sonic 2, I think Strider wins it for me. Released in 1990, it was one of the first games for the Megadrive and the fact Sega managed to convert this quality arcade title to such perfection on a home console was a true achievement. Thankfully I had the Japanese version at the time, so didn't have to put up with the awful artwork that plagued the European release!

That's without mentioning the likes of shining force...
i must admit, i played IV before going back to play the other three, so they don't hold as much fond memories for me
got to agree with Buck, great game, and the shining forces were excellent, i must also give a shout to shadowrun and soliel, lot of hours put into them

I'm going to say Monster World IV, which SEGA made the effort of bringing to all the consoles in English for the first time last year. It's proof that they're still willing to make an effort.

For all the multi-layer scrolling and sprites it can do, there's still one game I love to play over and over - Flicky.

This is tough... best Megadrive game for me has got to be the conversion of Speedball II, but Megadrive exclusively? Either Micro Machines 2 with the J-Cart or General Chaos. Multiplayer LEGENDS.

Being a Snes man at the time I haven't fully revisited the Megadrive but there's a few exclusives out there i'm dying to try. A buddy had Gunstar Heroes which was excellent!

For me it was the conversions I could not get on the Snes, Xenon II, Speedball II and Gauntlet IV, quality games.
WANTED: Mario Party 3 on N64 (just the Box only) ANY SNES GAMES, OR EMPTY SNES BOXES, INSTRUCTION MANUALS or WHITE INNER TRAYS.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles, without doubt as a young child having a lock on cartridge that doubled one epic game up with another was awesome!

And yano - Tails in S&K :p

Any game composed by the amazing Yuzo Koshiro. That man was a musical marvel in the 1990's. Give me Revenge of Shinobi and Streets of Rage 1 over anything else, any day of the week.

Was going to say Side pocket...

but standing outside the window of Tandy in Durham and watching the attract mode of Sonic 1 is a memory that will stick with me till I croak...

I bought a megadrive from that same shop and subsequently spent the next 6 months glued to it..taking turns playing it with my wife and her crazy joypad swirling style of playing...the number of times she called sonic a stupid little censored and the fact that everyone who saw it or played it then went out and bought a megadrive just to play sonic means that Sonic is easily the most important game of my gaming life...

Its not the best or my favourite by a long way , but it holds much more memories that just make me smile....

PS I have never completed it and I dont think I want to...does that make sense?

Sonic & Knuckles - it's my default Mega Drive mode!

Still the only game I've ever one-lifed to completion.

Gunstar Heroes. It had great variety in level design and was oozing with personality. I love being able to pick the order I play through the stages, and love the weapon customization. It's the run-and-gun genre at its finest.
