That was the best bit in the mag and seeing as 90% + on here these days dont talk about playing retro games anymore just collecting them it seems a good idea.
Interesting point that - there is a lack of discourse on actual retro gameplay round here, now that you mention it.

I don't understand. If the point is that actually playing retro games is taking a backseat to collecting, surely we should be rooting for the return of Let's All Play, not Collector's Corner?

could do a piece on the relationship/difference between hoarding and collecting, like why do some people buy everything retro they see whilst others only buy certain things, when does a hobby turn into an obsession, and when does it take over your life. Spoke to loads of people at play expo who came to the retrocollect stand and there are lots of people who had thousands of games (i only have a lowly 1000 or so), one guy had over 8000! Many people were at around the 4000 mark.

could be quite an interesting article really

I have a collection of N64 stuff - most notably an iQue and a dozen strange third-party controllers. However they're all at my parent's house so I can't help, sorry =P

I have a collection that has been lovingly put together. My main focus is original Spectrum games, not budget reissues. I have one of the biggest (but not the biggest, I've seen bigger, but not many) and most concise collections. Got piles of stuff for other machines and nearly all the really popular ones from the early 80s onwards are represented. Big N64 collection too (well big compared to what I used to have. I managed to amass a 'huge' collection of 9 games back in the day paying new prices, but now have around 70, all bought off ebay during the last 18 months or so). You can see pics of it in the link under my sig. I love just going in there, it's a right little museum now. I don't even have to turn anything on when I go in there!

I used to have ~5000 original cib games covering numerous platforms and 2500 computer/console magazines (mostly UK).
Due to moving to a different country I had to half my gaming collection, now I only have ~2000 and most magazines had to go too, only have less than 1000 now.

i think this page in GamesTM has slightly run its course in its present form - would be nice to see collecting included but maybe in a new way. The story of how people got there games is all too often "i picked it up on ebay" which is no ones fault, but not gripping.
