Never had a Speccy, but I played Match Day 2 to death on my mates so I'll choose that..

Head Over Heels or Knight Lore a close second..

Just one ? Impossible! I'd say Highway Encounter, Atic Atac, The Hobbit, 3D Starstrike...

Rex was ace, a really good run and gun. Otherwise Sacred Armour of Antiriad for me. It's like Metroid, on the humble Spectrum! Admittedly it was available on several systems, but the Speccy version had a very clean aesthetic compared to the other versions. And who doesn't like Metroid-styled games?

I managed to complete it! One of the easier Spectrum games I'd say, doable with some perseverance. Once you got the armour it became quite easy since you were so powered up. Then you just fly along those tunnels avoiding the flames.

Starglider amazed me on the speccy so I had to get the CPC version.

School Daze was certainly a highlight for me on the Speccy.
I used to make fun of Spectrum owners with their inferior looking games back in the day, being a C64 user myself.
Then one day I actually started playing on a real Spectrum and discovered a few real gems that I had never played on my C64.
School Daze was probably my favourite then and I still love it today.

'Back 2 Skool'. Unlike most games I can't think of a game on *any* format that revisited this play mechanic/setting - let alone doing it better.

It's a close draw between Captain Dynamo and Gauntlet II. Captain Dynamo had an amusing Brummie accent, and Gauntlet II would consume entire weekends in two-player mode. So yeah, one of those two. Or 720* or Rolling Thunder or Shadow Of The Beast.

So many fab games, so I'll just pluck the title from my head that immediately came to mind at how much time I spent on it.

Sabateur.

That game may not have had the graphical wow factor of others, but that is the one title I utterly played to death above all others. You get the urge to spout off 'honourary mentions' galore, but this is probably my fave speecy game above all others in terms of how much I enjoyed it and how long I played it for.
