Well, you know how much of a C64 head I am, and yet I wouldn't quite go as far as that ;)

I'm going to say Knight Lore, for effectively making a genre into an institution...

Has anyone mentioned Jetpac yet? Of course they have. It's Ace. :D
But I'm torn between King Arthur's Quest and Beach Head, or Fairlight. Or even JSW, Dizzy, Finder's Keepers? Can't we narrow it down to a top ten?

Without question, Starglider, Realtime did an amazing job on this, Excellent in 48k, but something else in 128K, extra missions, some of the best sound on the system, superb.

Jet Set Willy.

Something about JSW on the speccy - it just feels right. The sound is perfect and the colour clash spot on!

Such a question, I wouldn't even know where to bloody start. I'd start typing & 500 games later I'd think of another!

Ouch . . as a non-spectrum owner, this is tricky . . very tricky . .

However, then it was Jetpac - I spent far too much time on that, it was as close to an arcade experience as you could get on such a humble machine.

Now, via emulation, probably Chuckie Egg . . . my DS has taken a pounding with that.

I also adored The Hobbit back in the day, such an involving adventure...

Oooh ..I feel dirty even answering that question , being a Commodore kid and all , but I'd say Chase HQ , as it was a fantastic conversion..and the C64 one was, well ..pants!

Hmm..., Monty On The Run or Quazatron. Tough call! By the smallest of marginsj I choose Quazatron. Possibly the humble machine's greatest musical achievement with the game's intro screen, and a brilliant slant on the C64's legendary Paradroid. Spectrum gaming at its very best! :D

It has to be Manic Miner. There may have been 'better' games over the Speccy's lifetime (Quazatron, R-Type, Chronos, Cyclone, *cough*Buzzsaw+ spring to mind) but it's that all-time classic that I still keep going back to.

Chase HQ 2 still manages to amaze me when I see it. One of the best arcade conversions for the Speccy and it's more fun than the arcade original.
