Issue 90 feedback thread
Issue 90 just dropped through my front door. I have not even turned a page yet, but the cover has me very excited!
I'll post a pic if I can tear myself away from it.....

I just got mine, and had a quick flick through. Looks another quality issue but I am getting some deja vu with that cover.

Re: Issue 90 feedback thread
Got it today, looks good, not really a zelda fan but I liked the guide to all the different zelda games, and versions of the original that appeared..
Have just skimmed through really.. didnt really enjoy Paul Davies usual pointless drivvel, and the review of Virtua Fighter by some random was very pretentious.. But those are minor niggles, a great read as always, and the only magazine I read.. It rules!
On a side note I recommend people read a fantastic book called High Score.. the cover is poor, and its barely covers UK centric gaming such as the C64, Speccy etc.. but it covers the beginnings of electronic gaming, the rise & fall of atari, and all the games companies beginnings. (EA, Activision, Bullfrog etc etc).. Its very well presented and is a great read.. It covers PC gaming extensively, so if you loved DOS and PC gaming over the last 2 decades you will be in for a real treat, but its a book that anyone here would enjoy..

Ignore amazons prices , I found it for £16 delivered.. well worth it!

Re: Issue 90 feedback thread
Surprisingly my copy arrived this morning instead of the normal 3pm delivery.
Firstly I'll have to get the small gripe out of the way. My copy arrived with a rip/hole that goes through the spine and through the back cover all the way to page 84. Am I entitled to a replacement and if so how do I go about getting one?
Onto the actual magazine, love the over it's so shiny. Have only had a flick through so far but I'm pretty much looking forward to reading all of the articles, especially the Zelda stuff and the Saturn guide.

Re: Issue 90 feedback thread
Having had such a fantastic run of amazing issues recently, I suppose it was only a matter of time before an issue that has lots of content I am not interested in arrived.
That's not a complaint - I understand the mag and the fact that it will not appeal to everyone all the time.
The Cover is blindingly shiny if you hit the right light!!! and I am sure it will attract some new readers. Zelda - I tried hard to enjoy that Wii Zelda game but just found it one of the most annoying games ever! Twee music, twee characters and slow slow gameplay and I just get the impression that is how Ocarina plays (I could be wrong here
)
The making of Knightmare sounds intersting as does the Westwood article (awesome developers).......
Crash Bandicoot - again, no interest in this. Rayman - they were all rubbish anyway!
Sega Saturn bit looks good too...
So not a complete let down for me - just that the majority of the mag is dedicated to some of the franchises that hold no interest!!!
Off to read the bits I like the sound of - and will eventually read the others too

20 pages and a From the Forum section... yes, it SEEMS like a fair chunk of Zelda, but it is the anniversary. Plus you've got two pages of developers talking about Ocarina of Time and a fascinating two-page spread on the many different versions of the original game.Sepp Salerno wrote: It was waiting for me in the office this morning. Hope everyone enjoys the Knightmare article, squeezing six different interviews into 2000 words was not easy...

Re: Issue 90 feedback thread
Excellent issue, not one for reading in direct sunlight though, catching the cover at the wrong angle could disrupt shipping. The amount of Zelda love is a bit overwhelming, I've really enjoyed the Zelda games I've played but it's not a franchise I've got any real fan love for beyond the quality of the games individually, happily there's plenty else of interest too. Only really skimmed most of it so far, absolutely loved the Westwood Studio's From The Archives.
I'll echo others sentiments on the letters pages in terms of their relevance, but if its a case of it being there because there's no finance to replace it with something more meaningful then I would rather it stayed than be replaced with two more pages of adverts, other filler like the old Ebay price guide, or (god forbid) more modern coverage......however if you wanted to replace it with full page pics of old game adverts, arcade machine flyers etc, that would be lovely.
Not read the Knightmare article yet, looking forward to it though, being a big fan of the TV series as a kid and having struggled mightily and moderately successfully with the game (on the CPC).

Re: Issue 90 feedback thread

Love the Zelda features (I've been quoted!). This issue seems to have loads of interesting stuff on top of the zelda stuff too. Looking forward to reasding the making of Rayman and crash bandicoot. The westwood studioes section caught my eye and even though I've never once considered a sega saturn, i'm still keen to check out what it has to offer in case I've missed out.
Splendid job

Chazz it up!!!
