Re: From the Forum Issue 89
tough one. loved many c64 games, but i think the one that i played the most was probably microprose soccer. action replays, banana kicks, and a good fun indoor five-aside pitch version to boot!
Re: From the Forum Issue 89
Very difficult one to answer - probably has to be The Sentinel for me. Brilliant game which I lost many hours to.

Ghosts n Goblins - proves that a great soundtrack can make a mediocre game magic

Hey , if you're a fan of Dropzone , you REALLY want to play the A8 version of which the C64 is only a port. That Maclean calls the Atari "The Porsche of home computers" whilst the C64 is "a respectable BMW316" gives you an idea which his favoured machine was.

Master of Magic, great little budget rogue(ish) title with pretty nice music.
Also someone else has mentioned Forbidden Forest already!

I only ever played ona C64 in Laskys as a kid - but loved Uridium when it was on demo. The scrolling and flipping motion of the ship was something that made me go 'wow'.
Re: From the Forum Issue 89
Paradroid, still love the game to this day. Everything seemed to work with it, even the minimal graphics. None of the remakes seemed to have the same feel to me, although I quite liked Ovine by Design's version, it is always the original which I go back to.
Re: From the Forum Issue 89
I have to pick Giana Sisters.
I hadn't yet played, or even seen Super Mario Bros, so to me Giana Sisters was a refreshingly original and charming game.
And with the great music and colorful graphics, it really stood out.
As much as I love Super Mario Bros, I still prefer Giana Sisters.

Re: From the Forum Issue 89
Rockstar ate my Hamster. It was a great package, not just a great game. Even the instruction manual was well thought out, detailed and funny. the game itself kept me coming back with the randomly generated music making each game at least a bit different and the rock solid difficulty meant I still haven't completed it even to this day!
Re: From the Forum Issue 89
I know it is the original and respect it for that, but from the videos I have seen I haven't really seen anything in the A8 version that is different (scrolling logo notwithstanding - and that could have been done if Archer knew about the gfx tricks that makes it possible).paranoid marvin wrote:Hey , if you're a fan of Dropzone , you REALLY want to play the A8 version
And you know, the C= 64 version scrolls smoother... *ducks*
P.S And for the Amiga you want Datastorm as best game. There is a demo where S0DAN admits to loving Dropzone. No wonder he did Datastorm as practically a clone of it.
Re: From the Forum Issue 89
Never ever played a C64 game back in the day - didn't know anyone that had one - all my mates had Spectrums...
Death may be your Santa Claus.
Re: From the Forum Issue 89
Now that's a toughie. er Pitstop 2, no wait...Power Drift, no I mean IK+, no er Myth, no Mayhem in Monsterland, no SEUK, maybe Armalyte...
All right my favourite C64 game was Chase HQ, reason being it was one of those golden opportunities for Speccy owners to point and laugh during those playground wars.
