I really liked the Wizards & Warriors feature, but there's some wrong info it because the Game Boy game was released in Europe.

It was featured in the Classic issue of Club Nintendo overhere, and I own an Italian copy of the game.

Yup, pretty sure Fortress of Fear got a EU release. I have two copies of the game, so I can't imagine that it didn't, unless it was a heavily imported title, or something.

I just received it yesterday (Monday).
Thanks Jet Pilot. I'm way more giddy than usual for this issue. Ms Pac-Man, Wizards & Warriors, Metroid Zero Mission, and Day of the Tentacle in the same issue is almost too much :D

First let me start by offering a positive: The Ms. Pac-Man article was great. As usual, the majority of the magazine is good. I also enjoyed the "Scary Insight Into the Mind of a Vic20 Owner" on page 102. Though the guy is a little nuts, it was nice to have someone get printed who didn't like Iain Lee's lackluster and uninspired negative review of the Vic a few issues back. Adding to that his smug illustrated mug that appears next to each of his articles--well, it really lends to the urge to smack him right in the mouth. The next time he decides he's too lazy to write something positive about a machine he obviously had no interest in as a child (or mayn't even be in the right age group to appreciate) give the project to someone else. It will prevent you from getting letters from crazy porn-addicted Vic owners in the future.

But the main reason I've created an account in the forums today is for the sole purpose of ripping on pages 24, 25, 52, 53, 74, 75 and all previous pages that feature short articles like this.

THEY ARE ANNOYING AS CRAP.

1. Although I don't count myself as someone who can't read small print, I still find it annoying. Your audience is aging. Use larger fonts.
2. Are you really that tapped for articles that you must fill 6 pages with giant blown up images of the games featured in the articles? Fill the space with something else if you insist on making the print only legible with a magnifying glass.

Otherwise, great job on the magazine again. :D

Welcome to the forums :)

The Retro Revivals have been part of the magazine since issue 19 and as a result won't be going anywhere.

I was a bit dissapointed with the apparent lack of Strike article I was promised! I was REALLY looking forward to that as desert-urban were fantastic, and I enjoyed Nuclear but haven't played Soviet enough to comment....almost completed future cop LAPD also but thats neither here nor there.

However the day of the tentacle inclusion was RIGHT out of left field...I'm gonna be going over my copy once i've finished my dinner!

Ruuuuuuuuuuuudos, wow, you're alive  How are you doing :)

Yup, not even that, it was even released in the UK. blunder really, but not the first one, I wish they'd research these things first. Anyone remember the Street Fighter Alpha 2 error?

Generally, where the content of RG is concerned I have no issues. I enjoy the Retro Revivals segment. Just not the ridiculously huge space it occupies while dwarfing the text. :) But I digress, I have spoken my piece about it and that... is as they say... that. It is my right to complain--and everyone else's not to listen. Whether you, or anyone at RG decides to change the layout based on opinions launched in a single complaint in a forum is entirely up to you and the powers that be at RG. And until I or someone else in the U.S. starts their own version of the magazine--I will continue to subscribe. It's one of--if not the bestresource for retro gaming enthusiasts out there.

While I like the RRs with the chunky images, I do think Madaracs has a point regarding the point size, Darran. I guess I'm getting old, but it could do with being bumped up by 1pt or so.

@Madaracs: Regarding the general composition of the articles, Retro Gamer's already text-dense as it is. The RRs provide some useful pacing in the mag, a means of showing off retro graphics, and are also handy from a budget standpoint. Scrap three RRs (six pages) and you'd be able to replace them with one-and-a-bit pages of 'standard' content.

Regarding the retro-revivals - personally I can take or leave them, but I do understand why they are there. I think a nice step in the right direction for them is the use of game 'maps' (like the Quo-Vadis one this issue) - a mixture of more of these where applicable alongside the traditional screenshots would be a great way of applying the space in those DPS's.

Well I'm REALLY happy cos I was chosen for this month's retrobate profile. Not really read the mag yet, but I soon noticed that!

When is the Lets All Play: Super Castlevania IV feature coming?

Rendering Ranger was a fantastic choice for the Import piece.

Ms. Pac-Man article was hugely informative and entertaining to read.

Loved that Day of the Tentacle had a piece but it seemed a bit short and didn't go into much detail. Still would love to see a Top Point-and-Click Adventure Games.

Loved the cover, just love the general professionalism and amount of effort and detail that goes into the whole mag each month, agree would love to see a point-and-click feature as adventure games are my faves, and need more funny letters in mailbag like the Vic-20 one.

A staggering amount of games were produced in the 80's and 90's on home computers and other systems so its just great that a mag like RG is bringing a lot of them back into the spotlight again, or even for the first time.
