Have you tried Dosbox? I'm sure i've got it working via that before.....TheDude18 wrote:After a lot of pondering I’ve plumped for Transport Tycoon. If I could get it to work with my current PC I’d still be playing it now.
Other titles which were a close call - Rollercoaster Tycoon, Age of Empires, Red Alert and Z.

Populous 2 on the amiga 500. This was an amazing game, creating choas on your opponents land, especially with the black plague where there was vultures circling your opponents villages. Also liked razing volcanos any where on the game map.

I always had something of a soft spot for Battle Isle on the Amiga - especially when playing it in two player mode. Sadly, I can't remember the ins & outs of it now, but I remember spending a long weekend lock in combat with a mate of mine.... didn't they realise a WWI version soon after?
Rollercoaster Tycoon was & is fantastic - spent many hours building complex theme parks, but the crowning moment was always putting paying guests on incomplete designs & seeing the cars fly off the end....

Ooh ooh ohh. POPULOUS for the Sega Mega Drive. About the only strategy I've ever loved.

Re: From the Forum question for issue 80
Rebelstar on Speccy! Chaos would be 2nd choice. They straddled that fine line between a massive spread of possible options and possibilities, whilst still being quick and easy to get into. How many modern turn-based strategy games can say they don't need the player to play the game for less than 6 months solid with at least 6 hrs a day, just to get to 'beginner' level?

Re: From the Forum question for issue 80
Commandos (PC), cos I liked caring when the individuals in my team died. Similarly Rebelstar II (Speccy) - surely THE BEST non-licensed Aliens tie in.
...you been goofin' with the bees?

Megalomania. Used to love this and the cheesy dance track inspired by the game!
Re: From the Forum question for issue 80
I would go with Laser Squad (on the Amstrad CPC), the gradual increase in the claustrophobic feeling as you entered the buildings and closed in on your enemies can't be beaten.

Lord Of The Rings Tactics (PSP) the only Stragedy game i can stomach, and i love it to bits.
Re: From the Forum question for issue 80
I know it's too late for the mag, but Cossacks was a pretty good RTS if I remember correctly - lots of scenarios, farily large all-encompassing campaign, lots of troops to play with. Never played the second game though.
