Getting through it now, another one here found the 7800 article most enlightening. I have to say the TR piece has been the highlight for me, but there's no surprise there! Fab. 8)

Getting hold of Japanese programmers is like pulling teeth at the best of times but in the case of Thunder Force it was even harder as Technosoft no longer exists.

Fred,
Just fired off an email to Colin to get an answer on this. If I get one I'll post it on here.
Right, I got in to work this morning and there was a response from Colin regarding the ending to Rockstar. Here’s what he had to say;

"Yes there was an end screen/message, I can't remember what it was though. The game was very tricky to complete, but I would have done it without a cheat mode at least once. I seem to remember spending quite a while trying this, but it was only fair to the players."

So there you have it. Confirmation that there was an ending, and the game could be completed, but what that ending was still remains a bit of a mystery I’m afraid.

I’ve never been the bloke on the issue feedback topic to say ‘Not for me’ but this issue…not that much for me to be honest. Never, ever been fussed on Tomb Raider, or Lara Croft’s box-like face, also, most of the games covered (for once) I’m not that interested in.
But hey, it’s the first time that’s EVER happened for me in an issue of RG, and that’s incredible in itself, because I’ve been buying it for years :D

The Tomb Raider article was great, but it was let down by the Guardian of Light interview at the end. Karl "global brand director" Stewart is either incredibly dull or a very sophisticated marketing bot.

Gotta love the tomb raider coverage - not too sure about the new game though, Tomb Raider meets Smash TV? Hmm... we'll have to wait and see on that one, methinks...

Bonus points for the Shenmue feature as well. Very nice.

Don't like the cover at all, but it attracted my notice more than many other previous issues, so I spose it serves a purpose.

Nice bit on the 7800, although I would have liked a slightly longer article with a bit more emphasis on the games, most of which were overwhelmed by the competition, making that particular Atari retro before it's time.

A more fantastic than usual Homebrew section with the wonderful Adventures in Time given the extended coverage that it truly deserves.

Another tiny, tiny little criticism if I may though - Monty on the Run, nice to see the C16 version mentioned, but a little wrong to refer to it as the Plus/4 version.

Luv you xx

I (almost) always enjoy the mag, 100%, cover to cover.
Reviews of current-gen titles with no (or weak) links to retro gaming annoy me slightly
but this months had something that made me cringe..........

The "interview" with the three dragons from the Atari 2600 game, Adventure.
I mean WTF!!!!
Was it supposed to be an attempt at humour?
I cannot believe or understand how this made it into the mag. Appalling.

Rant over! :?

^^ Yeah, wasn't a fan of that either, thought it was pretty silly.

Other than that, another enjoyable issue guys, thanks! :)

Like I said before , maybe the game/characters chosen than the idea. Would like to see it developed further with more recognisable characters than be dropped entirely ,and its always nice to see the mag trying new things.

How about one with Blinky and co from Pacman , Maria from Jet Set Willy or the ensemble cast of The Secret of Monkey Island (maybe Stan , Marley and Meathook?)

I didn't realise this had actually been mentioned earlier.

The characters were extremely recognisable to me but it was still terrible.
I agree, it's important for the mag to try new things but equally important to realise
when said things don't work and have to be dropped.
I've had another look at it (just to make sure) and it's quite possibly the worst idea/piece of writing I've seen in RG.

Nah, I liked it, you know? Similar to a lot of the "humour" site I visit on the Internet, so it got a chuckle out of me.

Shall we have a poll on who liked it and who didn't?
