As much as I love MG2, SM64 was the pinnacle of platform gaming in '97. Well thought out levels, great power-ups and really long longevity.

I've not played Super Mario Galaxy 2 but the first one did nothing for me, neither for that matter did Super Mario 64.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 easily. I just find it far more fun than 64 ever was. I had to force myself through a couple of the levels on 64 while I enjoyed getting every last star on Galaxy 2.

Haven't played Super Mario Galaxy 2 yet but looks rather good, but.......... Super mario 64 really did cut a notch in history as a truly stunning game title.

Neither Mario in 3d is hugely and I mean hugely over rated

Ive tried to get into Mario 64 countless times. I cant, it bores me to tears.

The last one I played was Sunshine or whatever was on the Gamecube. I didnt get that either

just seemed a bit erm well, flat and chorseome to be honest

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the best platformer since Super Mario 64. Galaxy 2 is an amazing game; Super Mario 64 was an quantum-leap in gaming possibilities, a dream come true, and made me feel thankful to be alive at the time to experience it.

While Galaxy 2 is superb, comparing it to Mario 64 is absurd. Mario 64 redefined gaming. Period.

While Galaxy 2 is great, Mario 64 is the original.

When can we expect the Mario feature that was advertised as coming next month back in the fall?

Yeah, so did Space Invaders, but compare it now to, I dunno, Ikaruga? Mushi? EspGaluda 2? I know which I'd rather play. Old doesn't necessarily equal better, even if at the time it 'redefined' gaming.

Mario Galaxy 2 is about 600 times more fun than 64.

Oh, and Super Mario World > all 3D Mario.

I have to go with Super Mario Galaxy 2, it takes all the Mario Platformers, puts them in a blender, and serves it as one delicious game.

Quite frankly Mario 64 introduced us to the perfectly controllable 3D playground space, and so for that reason alone it's an absolute classic.
Galaxy 2 refines the diamond, but it's still a diamond nonetheless.

I play 'em all on the Wii through the wonders of Virtual Console!

To be honest it's like having the choice of getting into bed with either Jessica Alba or Kelly Brook. Either way you're gonna enjoy playing!

I couldn't get into either of the Galaxy games. It's probably got to do with the overly free camera & the running sideways & upside down thing. Mario 64, well I've started another game of that recently thanks to the good old Virtual Console. It's fantastic as always.
