Vic20 only has 5 pins on video, so if your cable only has 5 pins on the DIN, then you can use it. I know some of the C64 video cables have 8 pins, so you can't use those.

Absolutley, yes... and more things from the early home-computer and pre-home computer, Atari 2600 and the early TV-Pong type games, eara in general.

I'd still like to see a feature on screen-based electro-mechanical arcade games like 'Killer Shark!' :D

It's really easy to make a VIC-20 to composite video/audio cable. I used to make these and sold a few on ebay... I always got thanks and good feed back, it makes a big diference on more modern TVs, although the VIC isn't best played on a LCD screen MIO!

Hey! :x  :P

Sad thing is, there isn't a lot of us old fogeys who know a lot about the machine. Be glad you got the hardware article out of me heh. How about a Minority Report? That could work... I have probably played the most Vic20 games of anyone on the planet

Would love to see more VIC20 in the mag even though I never owned one, I think it was a good machine in it's day compared to the ZX80/81 (loved the ZX81 mind).

Minority report please as I'm still debating whether to get a Vic 20 or not. I don't know enough about the games to decide.
Would love to see an article on Commodore Plus 4 games as well, not C16 but actual Plus/4 only games.
I know there weren't many but Saboteur sticks in my mind as such a great game I want to know what else there was.

Good news. Now can we have an entire issue devoted to the Vic 20? Just kidding (I'm not really).

Looking back in time to when I owned a VIC I knew no better I must have had some good times but I won't let rose tinted nostalgia cloud my views, a handful of games not withstanding the VIC was a bland, weak and largely boring computer.

Hopefully the Minority Report article in the next issue will change that opinion slightly. You got what you paid for... the Vic20 was cheaper than its rivals, and not quite as powerful because of that, but there were lots of good games for it, and a number of programmers (of which Jeff Minter is probably the most well known) cut their teeth on it. Until around maybe Ancipital and Iridis Alpha, Minter's Vic20 games were arguably better than his C64 ones.

I think Minter raises the machines profile somewhat. I will read the Minority Report with an open mind and dig out an emulator and see what happens.
